what are the chances that Seau pulls a Jack Del Rio?

Seau is like Jerry Rice, he will only leave the NFL when either his body breaks down completely or he will find no team anymore willing to sign him (then he probably goes to play in the Canadian League). I even expect him to play in 2006 and maybe even in 2007

For those of you not familiar, Jack Del Rio was signed during Zachs Rookie year, and about halfway through training camp he retires, and basically gives the starting job to Zach Thomas. I am starting to think that Jr. may be thinking the same thing with all the lingering injury problems he has had this last year. Jr. is at the point like Marino, in that he has nothing left to prove to the NFL, and while he still has some gas in the tank, I am willing to bet that he is one of those players that would rather leave on his own terms instead of being forced out.

Where on earth does this speculation stem from?

Jack Del Rio never played a down of regular season football for us. At least Junior's got roughly two seasons under his belt with us. Fret not.

it's a question like any other.

Juniors got too much heart and dedication. Hes a trooper. And in light of the whole Ricky fiasco, i think hes smarter than to quit during training camp. Only a serious season ending injury will force Jr. into retirement. JMHO

As has been mentioned, Del Rio was cut, and then decided to retire...IF Saban decides to cut Jr., he may do the same...but I tend to think that there is very little chance of that happening....even at this stage of his career, Jr has much more left than Del Rio ever had...

Bill, I don't think Junior quits unless he has a season-ending injury. Then it would just make sense.

Where I do think the two might follow similar paths is in that I think Junior will coach after he's done playing. The man loves the game too much to just walk away.

I agree. I see Seau being allowed to return to the Chargers in order to retire where he started (especially since he will be wearing a Chargers uni in the HOF). If he coaches, it will be in San Diego. He is true to his roots. Gotta respect that.

jack did turn into a pretty good coach. May that be the next career for JR.??

Agreed....Seau's one of these throwbacks that actually loves football and the brotherhood of the players...he'll play till they set him down and offer him a LB's coach job.

If I wanted to go out, I would have done it before the start of a training camp in South Florida. I think he's in for the season.
