mike barrow the homestead native was released by the Redskins on Saturday. he didn't play at all last year due to injury and was released after he wouldn't take a paycut. i understand that he's fully recovered and he had 177 tackles(122 unassisted, that's a man!!!) in 2004. he would be an excellent fit and it would also allow Zach to move outside where he could really utilize his quickness and experience,as well as his coverage ability. Zach would be alot more effective taking on te's/fb's than the 300 pounders!!! what do yall think....???

still hatin' wanny:p4e:

well, word from dolphin camp is that we were waiting to see what manny ramirez was doing. its ok now. licking the ol' pen point while i type this.

I really don't think us winning this year hinges on the signing of Mike Barrow.

I don't think too many people would have identified that as a priority this offseason, either. Nice to add if he can help, but if he won't take a paycut, why would he take one for us? Also, at some point, you just have to stop signing veterans and build through the draft, and have patience. Maybe Cashman is really Spielman!

watch your mouth dolphan north i'm an avid speilman, wanny, and feidler hater:p4e: ..........understand!!!!!

and for your info he's from here, that would be the incentive for him!!! if you wer a south floridian you might've picked up on that angle!!!:grouplaug

How many linebackers does one team need
i thinkin the same thing after ronnie we need a db like ty law wat are they waiting for

Yeah id like to have him but the thing is with Smith being gone for about a month or month in a half basically three games of the season or so, we really cant be throwing that money out there for a linebacker when we drafted Crowder and signed Spragan to go along with Seau, and Thomas. Dont get me wrong i love changes and i get excited with moves to make our team better too i just dont think we can do it yet

Yeah that works so well with athletes, like the mighty Miami Edge who said there is not such a thing as a hometown discount. :grouplaug

No offense, but would you care to rephrase the post you started this thread with?
According to nfl.com Barrow did not play in 2004 (as you stated) and as a result recorded 0 tackles. Now in 2003, the last year he played, he recorded 148 tackles; 109 solo. Certainly respectable numbers. Where did you get your numbers from? The ones I'm passing on to you came from nfl.com.

Way to many people are regurgitating this "build in the draft" theory with no understanding. Yes, you build the bulk of your team in the draft! No you do not rely solely on free agents as the core of your team. If you do not understand this see Wanny. Wanny was a man who try to build a team solely on free agents. This did not work.

But because you draft does not mean you should not look at free agents. Veteran talent adds a "help now" affect. It also offers teaching to your rookies. The "help now" affect is also VERY important in a team. The veteran touch can make or break a team.

If you do not believe this, see the Patriots, and Billy B. Yes you want lots of young players, but look at Harrison, all of the Patriot LBs, and Brown. You think tomorrow, but you have to think today as well.

Signing Barrow, for cheap I must add, will massivly help this team. How does it you ask? Well;

1. Barrow adds talent. Yes maybe his better days are behind him, but so are Zach's, and Seau's! Yet we keep them around?

2. Barrow will also add depth, something we NEED at the LB position. Last year was a good example of this.

3. Barrow offers alot of knowledge and experience which can help our young LBs grow (Moore, Crowder, Pope, etc.).

As for the arguement how many LBs will we keep? I say keep a heapload of them. LBs are versatile, they can role play. You can throw them at safety, at DL, extra pass rushers, special teamers, even offensive players. LBs are the most conditional players on the field, build by committy, not dependance.

The only arguement with meaning is cap space. Which is the deciding factor in signing him.

and you are saying that zack and jr. cant teach our young lb core?? i think they can and do a good job at it cb is where we need to spend the rest of our cap money left the way we are right now would be like going fishing taking our pole and not taking no bait so i say imo lets go out and get a cb that is where we are hurting the most:shakeno:
