What Broncos fans think of Mike McCoy

Well I hope his friends advise him to take the Bucs job or he needs new friends. It's not like Zimmer is a hot name and gets a lot of interviews for head coaching jobs around the league. At 58 he may get stuck as a career assistant for the rest of his life and never get a shot as a head coach...and this says a lot to me about the confidence he has in himself to be a head coach and leader of a franchise.

Making this a problem with Zimmer is the easy way out as a Dolphins fan. It might not be pleasant to think about but it's important to consider that the perhaps the Dolphins job is considered utterly poisonous.

And anyway it makes sense to me that a 58 year old coach with limited opportunities might get choosy exactly because he knows he might only have one shot. Why waste it somewhere where it's organizationally impossible to win because the owner is a bozo and the GM doesn't care about the most important position in football?

By the way, the guy who reported that Zimmer had withdrawn his own name from consideration -- Marc Kohn, who's reporting on the Dolphins search has been second to none -- also said that Toub also removed his own name from consideration for the same reason Zimmer did. That friends around the league advised him not to. The word from the Dolphins that they had eliminated both men is spin designed not to make them look so bad.

Kohn thinks it's going to be McCoy, by the way. His source says McCoy is a big favorite in this thing now.

How many HC interviews has Zimmer had in his career? He is not a hot commodity.

that doesn't surprise me at all...none of it...our front office is way too mouthy...and we wonder why guys get turned off by us...even if zimmer was too blunt for them don't let that get out...i swear our media relations with ireland and ross are just awful...these guys say some of the dumbest things...no wonder people turn us down

So two guys have a legitimate shot to get one of only 32 jobs in the world and their good friends advise them to say no to the Dolphins?? Now Toub gets to go back to Chicago as a special teams coach and Zimmer back to the Bengals as DC and where are the friends of McCoy and Philbin to tell them to get the hell out while they can?

thats kinda my read also...this matt moore thing is gonna end up playin out this upcoming season like kyle orton played out this last season...i think moore is gonna come back down to earth for a lot of people this season...not that he was anything great this year anyways...

I dont believe that for a second. Marc Kohn is not on any agent's speed dial, and even if he were, that's information that would actually hurt his client. Why did they even go on the interviews if their friends advised tham that the Dolphins were to terrible? Why not just decline the interviews? Zimmer also interviewed with the Bucs, who have a far worse reputaion that Miami, and Toub has never interviewd for a HC position that I know of. I believe both of their interests in the HC jobs were sincere.
 
First let me say one thing, I am not sure that McCoy is or isn't the right man for Miami but he most certainly isn't to blame for the Denver offensive mess, that is on Elway.

What the hell do you expect the man to do with Tebow as a QB? The guy can not throw any better than your average flag football QB and yet McCoy takes the heat for calling a running play on 1st down, welcome to option football in the NFL. It is absolutely amazing that Denver got what they got from the offense and even made the playoffs. It took about four or five weeks of film for NFL defenses to shut down the Wildcat and Denver's offense is no different than running a gimmick base set with a QB who throws slightly better than a running back. I give McCoy credit for getting what he did out of Tebow and I also would run for the ****ing door because I wouldn't want him as a QB and face of my franchise, it is a no win situation for McCoy.

I have no idea how McCoy will transition to Head Coach assuming he gets hired as one but he isn't a horrible OC by by any stretch of the imagination.

If we choose McCoy, I could see us targeting Richardson in the draft. McCoy knows how to use a RB.

You have nothing to lose by interviewing. You do have something to lose if you take the job (which anyway I don't think had been offered to either of them).

Kohn has not revealed his source (it doesn't sound like it's coming from an agent but it's hard to tell) but his reporting on the Dolphins coaching search has been impeccable. Check his twitter if you don't believe me. He was saying the night before Toub and Zimmer were "eliminated" that each had taken his name out of the running, and he had the inside scoop on what happened with Fisher before anyone else.

He's also been saying that barring something unforeseen that it's Mike McCoy who's going to get this job. So we'll see.

The owner being a bozo and GM not caring about the QB position doesn't mean Zimmer is smart by withdrawing his name. The fact that only the Dolphins and Bucs have interviewed him to be the HC and he hasn't had an interview for a HC position since he was with the Cowboys in 2006 speaks volumes to me about Zimmer. Either he sucks at interviews, is looking for the absolute perfect situation or has no confidence in turning around a franchise. 5 years is a long time between interviews, you'd think he'd realize they don't come every year.
