What can Brown do for us? Deliver his a$$ to camp pronto!

Personally, I'm getting more pissed with Ronnie by the day....

He should have been signed before TC started. All this crap about using QB A. Smith as a salary base is just absurd. You don't base your salary on the #1 overall pick when you're not the #1 overall pick...

You base your salary on what the #2 overall pick got in 2004, and then you add a low extra percentage to close the deal. This stuff about us waiting for Smith to sign is garbage. He should have been signed by now, and there's really no excuse for not having it done already....

I mean, who do you think A. Smith used as a base for his contract?? The 2004 #1 overall pick that's who. What's the difference between what he did, and what we want to do with Ronnie??....I just don't get it.

Added Gripes : He's not making any friends among the players, or believers out the fans with this BS he's pulling right now. I'm really disappointed in him. I thought this kid was going to be a standup, team player. Guess I was wrong.

What's going to happen with Ronnie when it comes time for him to re-negociate his contract???...A big HELL NO from Ronnie wouldn't surprise me after the way he's handling this....

I even heard that his agent has not returned the phone calls made to him by our FO in order to get the contract done. Not a good sign....at all!!

PHINZ RULE!!!

Why isn't it Ronnie's fault he's robbing the cap, isn't that exaclty the reason Saban traded Surtain. He wants more than a seasoned pro running back, that's ridiculus he's not that good. Unless there's something I don't know. But your right its not his fault he wants more money thatn he's ever seen in his life, and possibly keep Saban form signing Lance Shulters, or any other good players who could help the Phins out.

Ronnie isn't robbing the cap. It isn't his fault he was chosen at #2. This happens EVERY single year with top draft picks. We just haven't had a pick this high in forever so no one notices it. Just the fact that you say he's not that good shows me you don't have a clue.

The NFL is a business and players realize it, I have no problem with what he's doing. I don't think he's pulling any BS, it's a business, to me BS is Brett Favre commenting on Javon Walker's contract situation. It's crazy how people are trying to blame Ronnie Brown for being picked 2nd, and getting paid in-line with what other draft picks, taken in a similar area of the draft get paid. It's important to get everybody in camp, but the transition for running backs from college to the league is much easier than say the transition a QB would have.

Good points Blitz... Why DOES he have to wait for details of what Smith gets? We SHOULD just offer 5% more than the number 2 pick last year. It's not like we a are team without a decent running back. So we have all the hand, he has no hand! Even if we were going in to the season without him and only just had RW, LG, and KJ, I would feel pretty good about the prospects of the running game.

I don't think that is being argued, the point Blitzkrieg was making that he could have gotten this done and I agree. I also think Coach agrees. His attitude was disdainful of those not there.

I agree. Regardless of how much smoke these agents blow at their clients, the CLIENT is always in charge. If he wants in, he can make his agent get it done.

Wow, I played football for 10 years and I never considered it work. Funny huh?

Your not The #2 pick in the draft, never was going to be. Their was no upside but fun. You got a regular job fulltime and did whatever you could to get paid more or at least what you were worth. That is all he is trying to do. Like I said, earlier, Everyone using this situation to judge his character are hypocrites unless you are working for free or purposely taking less than what you are worth for the good of whoever it is you work for.

He could've gotten a deal done, but why would he? The 1st pick in the draft sets the bar. Everyone wants him in camp, but why wouldn't he try to get the best deal possible for himself? If he were a Qb, I think it would be a much bigger deal, but he's a running back and the transition from college to the pro's for a runningback is much easier, IMO.

This concerns me from the story on the Finheaven home page.
..

It pisses me off that these teams are letting Rookies eat up all that cap space without playing a down.

I'm starting to get to the point where I want to say "F@ck you Ronnie", you are competing against Ricky "F@cking" Williams not some ham-n-egger, carreer second stringer, dude gained 1800+ yards just a couple years ago behind a very poor O-Line. Sure, Ricky will miss the first 4 games, but the O-Line will likely still be developing during that period and I think no matter who starts the first part of the season at RB, its not going to matter all that much...

Don't get me wrong, I was very upset with Ricky, especially at first, but honestly if he had stayed he would have probably had another 250 plus carries and might not have been able-bodied enough to even play this year. I think he said that if he hadn't taken the year off he doesn't think he would be here today. And lets face it folks, whatever he said at the time, the REAL dope that killed Ricky's motivation last year was named Dave Wandstedt.

The point is that Brown should be in camp getting his a$$ acclimated to the system now. If he want's to hold out for more money? Fine, he just need tell everyone that he won't play a regular season down until the contract is done, we have a new Line Coach, and New Offensive Coordinator and Ronnie, you are a rookie, get your a$$ to camp.

Easy there, champion. He went #2 so the team expected to pay him #2 money. No animosity in his negotiations that I've heard. He just waited for #1 to sign as they tend to do each year to see what #2 money should be. He will catch up in camp quickly as he is not a QB. He is already preparing as much as he can I bet. Take 'er easy. ;)

i have a feeling this isnt going to end up good

I have a feeling it will be fine. The money he is asking wont be exhorbitant but rather in line with what a person in his position should be getting. The dolphins will pay in expectation of what kind of player they are getting and it will fall into place. NFL network just made a point that the three top running backs are all in the same situation and once one signs they should all follow quickly after.
