What did media pundits see we that didn't?

They knew we were poorly conditioned, a probowl kicker would look like a high school kicker at a bad school, and that every bounce was going to go the other way.

Everybody wasn't fooled.... only the usual suspects.

All people ever do around here is talk about how 'clueless' the national media is for not ever buying into the dumpster fire that is the Miami Dolphins... what the hell is wrong with you people? What has Miami ever done in the past 30 years to prove otherwise?

You all act surprised when this team falls flat on their face or fails to live up to expectations even though you see it over and over and over again...

It's always ESPN 'hatin' on the Miami Dolphins... get a clue already... ESPN caters to fanbases on a national level, and gives the benefit of the doubt to teams like the Patriots and Jets, because they WIN.

If Miami wants the benefit of the doubt, they have to actually WIN something... or at least give the illusion that you're close.

Nobody with half a brain falls for this crap...

Many of us just refuse to see us as the back to back 7-9 team we are

this team IS better than those back to back 7-9 teams. if we finish with a worse record it IS ONLY because of poor leadership (coaching). so the media is a bunch of idiots, UNLESS individually they were accounting for an anticipated implosion by this team BECAUSE of tony sparano - but i heard this mentioned or even wind of it NOT ONE TIME. NOT ONCE. so they had no foresight. they were simply being sheep and piling on. bunch of dumb ***** that cant think for themselves. looking at this team the last 3 years. there is NOTHING to indicated they would somehow be one of the 5 worst teams in the NFL - which seems to be where the media kinda had us.

and we wont be. this team will end up somewhere between 6-10 and 9-7. if they are EXTREMELY lucky MAYBE 10-6 but i highly doubt it. so even if the prognosticators end up being correct, they werent really correct because the REASONS for arriving at the conclusions was flawed.

we lost at home to 2 very good teams. this team wasnt prepared. we were also 1-7 last year and finished the season 7-9. we will be in the middle of the pack when its all said and done with a draft pick probably somewhere between 16-22

We have no stars on the entire team with the exception of Long

Long is a star? I must have missed his bone crushing hit that left a gaping hole at the 1/2 yard line allowing Bush to dance in for the score. Maybe it was the time Henne had a lifetime to survey the field (Aka: Brady) before he found a wide open Marshall.
Nah...Thats what a #1 pick should do but we toss fades to Hartline or Marshall which harmlessly fall to the turf because Jake is not known to dominate his opponent and we sure as heck cannot get 1/2 yard when needed.
If he is a star it is only based on his status as a #1 pick in our minds. Look no further than across the line at the two teams we have played so far this year to find true stars on the OL...NE & Texas have 3-6 round picks shamelessly getting it done.

A true star would raise the level of play of each guy around him...

and that part about picking between 16-22 also part off the problem

Before the season started almost every sports writer in a America had written us off as a bottom 5 team in the league. After 2 weeks... it certainly seems that we are.

This forum was abuzz with hope and optimism, and defending players on our squad regardless of the head scratching moves our FO made.

We are clearly a team in disarray. It sounds like Sparano is in jeopardy of losing the locker room. And it's only been 2 frigging weeks!

The biggest surprise of the season has been Buffalo by far. Chan Gailey... Frigging Chan Gailey has gotten that franchise playing well while we still are mired in futility.

What did we miss? winning is the only remedy. And it's likely not going to happen this season.

Miami is not as bad as you guys think at the moment and Buf isn't as good as their fans think at the moment. if Miami plays KC and Oak they are likely 2-0 and if Buf plays NE & Hout hey are 0-2. Both teams will probably win btw 6-8 games, not awful but not good enough for postseason contention.

I hope you are right and my gut feeling is wrong. If we are 3-2 in a few weeks Ill remember you called it. Glad someone around here can see at least some bright spots with this team.

The optimists are just that: Optimistic. Looking at it half full. I'm an optimist at the beginning of every season. I saw the light, but as it came closer and closer to the Pats game I started putting on my shades, and pulling the blinds down. Just because the predictions were wrong doesn't mean that optimists don't know anything about football. That's an ignorant assumption.

It happens every year. I love the hype around the beginning of every season trying to prove the media pundits wrong or living up to their expectations. But there is always the reality of where your team is. I saw us as a rising young team running with mid-range teams. I kind of see that, minus the rising part. As of week 2, which means nothing for the future, we are a bad team. Full of holes, and no solutions. The FO's stop gap philosophy seems to be biting them in the ***. The Coaches have admitted that they are confused and don't know why we are playing the way we are.

The look of this team is just flat. They look boring as hell. Watching the Eagles v. Falcons Sunday night gave me a quasi-boner. I then thought of where my team is at. They look bad. No fight in them. No physicality on D, no drive on O. They look like they're just going through the motions, and not even going out there and playing football. The top teams in this league don't have to think about the small things every single time they go out there. They see the bigger picture when they play. I'm not saying our team doesn't see it, but they aren't doing what it takes to win. These elite defenses are actively trying to pick the ball off and rip that ball out of other player's arms. We look gassed and out of position on virtually every play.

The critics were right for the wrong reasons. They got the outcome right, but arrived to it based on different things. The 70% of people on this site who picked the Dolphins to upset the Pats aren't wrong for picking that, they just show their hope outwardly for the team. There are no right or wrong answers in football before any actual games. As of now the critics saw right through this team. As of now the optimism is dampened. The team has not shown signs of lighting up again. If they lose to the Browns, then the serious issues just got more serious.

Plenty of people saw this coming. They were labeled "haters" and "pessimists". Remember all that?

No one SAW this coming. No one can see into the future. Predictions are easy to make and hindsight is always 20/20.

One of the best post I have read this year. You are so right in that all you need to do is watch the teams who have got it together play and think back to the product Ross puts on the field every season.
We have a long way to go and the coach has openly admitted he has no clue how to get there...No clue.

think back to the product Ross puts on the field every season.

It's not Ross. Why do people have something against Ross? Because they don't like pop music? Ross has done everything in his power to provide the resources this team needs to be competitive. Blame Ireland and Sparano. Hell, Ross bailed the sorry-*** fans out this past week so we could watch the game.
