What did media pundits see we that didn't?

I also predict
ed 5-11 possibly 6-10. Those who wouldnt believe that this team was a mess....welcome back to earth.

I donno, perhaps they were paying attention last season when we lost 3 straight home games to Cleveland, Buffalo, and Detroit.

Perhaps they took into consideration that the team basically quit on the QB down the stretch last season after he was benched and had to return to action after Pennington was injured.

Maybe they noticed the team all but, quit on the HC down the stretch last season. Just maybe they listed to what Ricky said on the radio and thought he may not be the only one on the team to feel that way.

Maybe they saw the owner flying around the country trying to replace the HC at the end of the season.

Its possible they already knew Colombo was trash just from paying attention to games last season. Then they thought well if he is starting at RT and the phins keep shuffling up their OL every year, their OL will probably kinda blow.

Could it be possible that they didnt believe in Chad Henne either?

Maybe they were looking at a team who went 7-9, folded down the stretch to sub par teams, has a lame duck HC that the owner tried to replace and the players already quit on once and would be quick to do so again with a bad start, and a QB that most people dont believe in and thought....... "ya know what..... this team might just ****ing blow this season. After all, they play in a tough division with 2 teams who many consider contenders and a Buffalo team who a lot of people think could win 7 or 8 games(I know I said to watch out for it). It makes sense that the phins will blow. They couldnt win at home last season, and they played some weaker teams on the road and got a few wins out of it. If their defense isnt as good as that 6th ranking suggested, then they could struggle to win more than a few games".

I dont know though. Its hard to say. I just cant figure how they came up with it. :rolleyes2:

They knew we were poorly conditioned, a probowl kicker would look like a high school kicker at a bad school, and that every bounce was going to go the other way.

I have come to the conclusion that the owner and the fans were duped..

When tony was about to be fired
he said he had like 35 messages on his cell phone from the players
And made it seem ross was making a big mistake
when actually maybe these players liked tony
because they had more freedom to do what they want
and were worried if a real tough coach came in and make them work hard..

I ran a poll, basically asked fans to pick which teams they thought got worse in 2011.

Next to nobody voted for the Miami Dolphins.

Something like 75% of the people voted for the New York Jets.

That's the definition of fan bias.

Poor example of Fan Bias but I will agree there are more people with a glass half full approach on FH

I don't know what poll you refer to (I may or may not have voted) some polls are quite relative the Jets lost a lot - they lost their starting RT, some of the guys they brought in are long in the last tooth - they could spend at will last year due to the cap. They tried to improve their CBs over the Summer too...

I am not sure where they improved by addition? In

Have you ever thought that perhaps the fan base was thinking addition by subtraction anyone over Dan (Daboll over Henning) would have got a resounding YES. I see the offence is going to score not at will but they will score as they learn the new offense.

We are two games in and the Jets haven't played a PO calibre team - they got a victory handed to them - their depth hasn't been tested yet Mangold has a high ankle sprain - not good

But hey to bust all the fanbase balls day in and day out gets tiresome - we all would all like the second coming of Marino but so would every other franchise but a few. Rings are only given out to one team each year so of course it is easy to be a pessimist and gloat each and every season "I was right' see we suck...

We suck in a few places a lot more than we suck in others in this case a few players are wrecking the success of the whole. The athletes are paid so well that to be the best they have to have a great deal of internal motivation. Henne has showed he cares, he has showed progress, BM came in leaner I think he cares, Fasano plays like he cares, the D looks like they read their headlines all summer and they are not helping one another - the coaches mismanaged them how could they be so out of shape???

Clearly are leadership is in question or TS wouldn't have almost been replaced now we have a lame duck coach the players know it and we are looking soft the coach is likely sucking up to each and everyone... Unfortunately TS also selects the team leaders so those are "HIS" boys -they do take on his character and approach

The earlier polled referred to was a one game match up was it not? One game does nota season make - I highly doubt that 80% of the Fanbase believed that we would be in first place with a lameduck coach, a new o coordinator, and Henne running the show -

It is not out of place to think that the first game of a season could be stole away by an inferior team. It has happened in the past.

That's a Get REAL thread...

Ryan Fitzpatrick go the Bills moving. They have not had good QB play for quite some time now. Take Fitzpatrick out of the equation and Buffalo would not be anything too special. CJ Spiller seems to have gotten better this year and Jackson is pretty dam good. Chan Gailey had nothing to do with Fitzpatrick coming on finally and Jackson was already on the roster. Isn't it weird, fans thought their Oline sucked but now that Fizpatrick is hot, the Oline is magically great. LMAO.

Wow some of u cats are harsh. The pundits just look at it objectively.

There really isn't a right or wrong way to view sports
as sport in societal value, is to pacify the human warfare and territorial instincts.

On one side, if you judge the fins accurately...good. It means you have an understanding of the game (combative strategy) and are thinking objectively.

On the other side, if you have blind faith and defend your team no matter what...good. It means that you have pride, and unwavering loyalty for something you identify with and care for (territorial)- thus you'll defend it.

This could help in judging others- when the lines between the football geek to the football fanatic gets a little blurred.

Haha I remember that poll! There better be fan bias on a Dolphins Forum! Of course I want to believe the Jets got worse. Reality has no meaning when it comes to being fans. We all know the reality of where we stand (at least I hope so). Some people like to dwell on the bad and ugly some like to dwell on the maybes and what ifs. I like to see it as we have a few sips left of this drink because there's not much left before it's all gone.

Miami is not as bad as you guys think at the moment and Buf isn't as good as their fans think at the moment. if Miami plays KC and Oak they are likely 2-0 and if Buf plays NE & Hout hey are 0-2. Both teams will probably win btw 6-8 games, not awful but not good enough for postseason contention.

Interesting.. Do you think Miami could Buffalo? At this point I'm not so sure.

Are you saying the media sees the team quitting and throwing the season?

Before the season started almost every sports writer in a America had written us off as a bottom 5 team in the league. After 2 weeks... it certainly seems that we are.

This forum was abuzz with hope and optimism, and defending players on our squad regardless of the head scratching moves our FO made.

We are clearly a team in disarray. It sounds like Sparano is in jeopardy of losing the locker room. And it's only been 2 frigging weeks!

The biggest surprise of the season has been Buffalo by far. Chan Gailey... Frigging Chan Gailey has gotten that franchise playing well while we still are mired in futility.

What did we miss? winning is the only remedy. And it's likely not going to happen this season.

Too early in the season to make the point that the media guessed right with their disdain for the Dolphins. Playing NE and HOU (yes at home) wasn't exactly going to be a cakewalk. I'd wait until the season was over to talk about the media being correct.

Why? Do you think the media thought the Redskins and Bills would be 2-0? Did you think they figured the Chiefs to score 10 pts in two games? That the Colts would be 0-2 even w/o Manning? That the Titans would beat Baltimore's *** in week 2?

Too early

HOGWASH!!

How could the talking heads not see our 4th round draft pick, Clyde Gates, was going to open up the field so much for BM that he would have a 3000 yard season. He did have a catch in preseason after all.

How could the "so called experts" not see that Daboll was going to be the greatest O-Coordinator in the history of the NFL? He was statisically worse than Henning but hes a Dolphin now, hes going to be brilliant.

How could those "morons" not see that Reggie Bush was Chirs Johnson in hiding? Bush knew he could be a great every down back. Saparano knew he could be a great every down back, thats good enough for me.

Didn't they see Henne lighting it up in preseason? Everybody and their mother knows preseason is an excellent barometer of how teams will perform.

This team had 16-0 written all over it, it was so obvious every sports pundit should resign and never speak in front of a camera again.

The media has been saying for years that the Colts are a 4 win team without Peyton. It's been pretty obvious for a while that even as great as Brady is, Peyton Manning is the most important player to his team in the entire NFL.

The media was sold on that when they watched the Patriots win 11 games with Matt Cassel.

In a normal year Indy would be fine w/ a competent QB, they dragged a 40+ yr old out of retirement weeks before the season. many in the media expected Indy to fall this year WITH Peyton. Brady has been the best and most important player for this generation.

NE won 10 games w/ Cassell as a starter, a year after winning SIXTEEN againsta tougher sched. Cassell also won a div title w/ KC and was w/ NE for years learning under Brady. The 2 situations are completely different.
