What did we actually expect?

Again..I would have made him play on 5th year w an eye on FA and the draft.

I wasn't keen on the above because I wanted Tua's focus on the season & not worried about his future.

But if no one wants to step up to give you the credit you deserve, I'll go first- YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. That's exactly how it should've been handled.

This is a serious question for those who share your point of view, and only you can be honest with yourselves about the answer.

Would it make all of you happier to be wrong about Tua and have him and the Dolphins be successful, or would it make you happier to be right about Miami making a mistake about signing Tua and see the team do poorly so you can say "I told you so"?

Shame on anyone whose first reaction was to think "See, I told everyone on Finheaven so". Let's have just a little dignity and respect for what's happening before we start patting ourselves on the back for something potentially terrible happening to a player on the team we supposedly love.
I can only speak for myself.... I'm a fan of the team first so I would've been happy to be wrong about Tua because that means he lead us to playoff wins and hope for a potential SB. Not happy that I was right we made a mistake not making him play on his 5th year option and the team is now in shambles.

Oh please. Tua will be fine one way or the other. I hope he retires..and has a great life. He’s a good man. He just shouldn’t QB in the NFL.

And yeah…I’d have much rather Tua kick butt and take us all the way. That’s the old argument…I’m a hater blah blah. I’m far from it..had season tix in Miami for years. Not a hater…just a realist.

I thought we were going to lose. I never once dared to predict a win.

I don’t know what happened in camp but they aren’t ready for the start of the season. What’s worse, we aren’t in shape. That’s unheard of in Miami. The lack of attention to detail and lack of discipline in terms of asinine penalties are ridiculous.

Josh had 139 yards passing and 3 yards rushing yet we were humiliated, no other word for it, because we played unprepared, crappy, self destructive football. We would have beaten no one last night including the lowly Giants.

It sure as hell looks like they lacked urgency in camp.

QB is the most important position. Our QB shrivels in big games and can't stay healthy. And we just gave him a boatload of guaranteed money. So, yes, he absolutely, unequivocally is one of the biggest issues on this team.
Look at our record when Tua has been out. Tua has won games, regardless of who the opponent is. Other QBs have lost those games with the same TEAM! This is not a TUA issue, this is a TEAM issue and yes Tua is part of that team. However, there is a drastic difference with him under center. Anyone who puts even a majority of this on the QB just doesn't understand this game at all.

Tua to the side, and all prayers for him......but we were getting our butts kicked before he got hurt. I know we had injuries late last year, and that gave me some hope to maybe expect something different, especially with Buffalo losing some key players during the off season. However last year, IMHO the biggest issues on the team were OL, play calling, and no legit #3 receiver.

Losing Williams and Hunt make this OL even worse. The fact that Grier came out and basically laughed at everyone questioning the OL just shows me the guy doesn't get it and never will. The play calling was the same forceful crap that doesn't work against good teams, and he was late AGAIN several times leading to wasted timeouts. McD needs to give up play calling now! I mean how many times can you run a FB dive successfully?

Lastly, the first 2 Tua ints were based largely on our 3rd receiver not running the route correctly. The last one although a bad Tua mistake was based on the fact that our OL sucks and Armstead was out again.

When you don't address problems and issues, and actually regress in some instances.......can you really expect a different outcome?
Yeah. The Dolphins can't expect to beat good teams when they are basically gifting them 24 points on 3 turnovers and a turnover on downs.

"When Tua has been out".... Which is happening more frequently. Kind of a huge issue given the importance of the position, no?

I expected to compete at worst, and to win at best.

There has been a handful of us who have hammered the table to built the OL, and a bunch of people with “theories” on why the “team building style” we are doing makes sense…

But yeah, it’s just the same problems over and over again. As we have been mentioning all offseason. But hey, if it takes some of you an extra 2-3-4 years to see the pattern, at least you’re seeing it now.

Good post OP. Couldn't agree more.

One quibble: I do think Grier addressed the lack of a legit #3 WR by signing OBJ. The reality is that he wasn't completely healthy to start the season, so we had scrubs out there last night and that led to the first two INTs.

Third INT was on Tua, sure, but also the entire left side of the line had been blown up. I'm usually a very even keel guy, but when I saw Lamm and Cotton out there, I almost went apoplectic. All I could think about was Grier laughing off, yet again, o-line concerns. You're right: he doesn't get it and he never will.
Not to jump in here. And I'm sure your already well aware, but that is exactly the problem with Grier and who he signed as a #3 wr... he just can't help himself to sign players that are already injured even and think that's going to work. Just my 2 cents

If anyone's very first reaction was "see, I told you so", then you're a hater. I have no idea if that was yours or not.

There were a lot of folks who expected time would make players who have consistently failed, better.

They are getting worse. The longer they are around this coaching staff the worse they become in terms of output.

They arent properly coached or prepared and are not talented themselves to make these leap plays to win games.

We have drafted wrong. We have picked the wrong head coach. The head coach has picked the wrong unit coaches. The head coach should have someone calling plays...and we continue to expect time to fix systemic problems.

The output on the field isnt bad luck and wasnt caused by an Indian burial ground - the output on the field is bc the men preparing it are not competent

Yeah it's a fair point. 67 Stang said the same thing. And it's true. Greir has a long, documented affinity for both drafting and signing as FA players with significant injury histories. I understand rolling the dice on a high upside guy with medical concerns from time to time, but this goes well beyond that.

I wasn't expecting a guaranteed win, but I was hoping for a close game.
Knew the line was going to be an issue, like always, but hoped for some new plays to counter their front 7.

Turnovers changed the game early on. The run game in the middle was a waste of a down

The front office must ignore the negatives that state anything about injury prone.
I get Paul was drafted for Armstead, but he's still raw and Armstead is made out glass.

Wynn is even finer china glass.

I'm not sure how anyone could expect different than this. With all the moves Grier failed to make, and the ones he did with small and injury prone players... this season is already done. Grier needs to go...

Grier needs to go
Grier needs to go
Grier needs to go
