What do we have in Jordan Tripp?

He has a lot of good traits and has solid insticts.

But IMO he greatly lacks any physicality. Just turns into wet tissues as soon as the game gets physical. I've never been one to think that a player can develop that trait.

My only hope for him is how good a job the staff did with Jenkins. But Jenkins never folded around contact the way Tripp does.

I cannot agree with this until we see him on the field. It's not fair to make definitive statements about a player based on thier rookie season conditioning. Can we at least wait until real bullets are being fired before we close the book on him?

Jordie Tripp is a good development prospect but he needs to put on about 15lbs in the off season. I think he may be better than many on Finheaven realize, but he needs to get physically bigger and stronger to be able to throw opponents around when he tackles (ie bring them down better). Yes, he has a very high motor and he is an extremely high character guy. He excelled in college at Montana, but the NFL is a big step up in the caliber of competition.
Most are probably aware that he plays all 3 linebacker positions and it is not clear to me which he is best suited. Some have questioned his instincts for the mike role, but he definitely has the motor. Incidentally, some may not be aware that he had a lot of success at forcing fumbles in college. If he is given the opportunity, don't be surprised if it happens in the NFL, it was his signature play that brought him to prominence in Missoula, Montana. You should also be aware that he was projected as a late 2nd or 3rd round Draft prospect and considered the best at the Combine who could play all linebacker roles, but we got a steal because of the small college discount from Montana. It should also be noted that he is 3rd generation University of Montana linebacker. He had the ability to play for a big school but he grew up a Grizzly fan because of the family connection and he followed the family tradition (I can understand that).

No doubt man... That's interesting. Thanks for the info!!!

I like the kid. The question for me is can he take and dish out the punishment against the run? If so, I'm excited.

The guy is a 5th round pick. On any contending team he doesn't make it through camp.

I'm definitely interested in his development, but I'm not banking on it. We may have to go LB by committee with a future draft pick ( Paul Dawson anyone?) as well. With how thin the LB market is this year, I'm almost on the side of looking at more safeties to bring in that can come up into the box and lay hits as well as playing deep. Safety is becoming more important in today's NFL so Goldson, Delmas in FA or Chris Hackett in the draft and it would ease my mind to let the younger guys develop on the go. I agree with some above that Suh mitigates the load for whoever we plug in at Mike.

great post, thanks

Well he's the best lb on our roster according to wv! However with his DiMaggio like streak of being dead wrong with talent evaluation, that probably means he'll be cut in June.

to me he looks like a clone of zach thomas but you never know what you have out a player until he plays...who would think jenkins was gonna be soo good if he never played

It would be awesome if he develops. Honestly, if he could be a solid backup that would be fantastic. The fact that he can play all 3 spots is even better. Of course I hope he turns into a baby Kuechly out there but hey I will take a solid backup who can make some spot starts and not look like Trusnik out there.
