What do you all think about the NFL going international with regular season games?

Bill Bidwill and John York accepted to take their teams down to play in Mexico, and these two are the least spending owners in the NFL, do you think they are not gaining a looooooot of money by doing this. I am telling you in the history of games played in Mexico we have the number 1 the number 3 and number 4 games with biggest attendance, I believe the dolphins played the number 3 game. We have the third biggest stadium in the world Azteca, we have a population of 20 000 000 people in the capital city, why in the world would you not make that move?

Th team that is the (home) team will make bank off the deal I'm sure w/o the expense. isn't the ticket sale split in the revenue sharing anyway?

yeah, but what about the local businesses in the "home" team's city. Hotels, restaurants, gas stations, souvenier shops, etc. ? Millions of dollars of tourist revenue will be taken from these businesses from the loss of a single game. Usually, an NFL city either helps fund the team's stadium or they give millions of dollars in tax relief to their team in order to insure that local businesses get the tourist income from NFL fans. Now, the NFL is talking about taking away 1/8th of that income and giving it to a city that doesnt even host a team.

Now, when it comes time for expansion again if Mexico City or Toronto or any other city within reasonable travelling distance can put forth a good case for receiving an expansion team then great, Im all for that....but dont take away the money and opportunity to attend home games from the businesses and fans that support the team.

Just my opinion, but I think its a very bad idea

Sweet!!! in 2006 The phins are gonna play a game in Cuba I heard. LMAO, naw, seriously I think the idea is STUPID, and I'd be awefully pissed if that happened to the fins, Oh, and what happens to the people with seasons tickets??? Do they get a ticket for that game???

Yes some of the local businesses may suffer, butabout 85 - 90% of the attendance of a home game is people who live in the city that don't need to stay in a hotel, eat out at a restaraunt and will spend the majority of their $$ @ the stadium. Think about the tax dollars spent on crowd control, traffic, and security envolved with just one game. Also think about the number of people going to sports bars and like establishments to enjoy the game. If an extra 25,000 - 50,000 seats can be sold at higher prices to people in those other cities than that is income the NFL and gets redistributed to the teams and then back to each local economy.

The profit and loss for the local economy would just about even out, but the $$ earned for the league and exposure would be very valuable to the sport as a whole. Just my opinion though...

Unfortunatly Paul (DUMBA$$) Tabgli??? ( however you spell his name ) will ultamitelly decide and he will probably base it on whichever way he can possibly benefit the most. He makes some STUPID decisions about the league...

It was tagliabue who decided to have a reg. season game in Mexico, I thought you liked that? I don't know what kind of bad descions he has made execpt IMO the one previously mentioned. The NFL has had pretty good labor peace over the past decade or so and definitely is the best sport of the big 3 1/2.

It doesn't make sense to me. I guess i don't care, it really doesn't matter where the games played i suppose. I mean sure theres a risk of international security, but i think there is at every football game.

Hopefully the Dolphins will play somewhere in Alberta.

The NFL should work on offering more TV access to potential international viewers.

Apart from a few countries the access is very poor to non existant.Thats because the TV rights are too high for markets where there is little interest.

I have seen games preempted by girls field hockey and polo.Thats how much interest there is.

The game is widely misunderstood .People who are interested in the fluid action of soccer or even rugby cant understand why there are so many interruptions in American football.

There is an education process to be done by the NFL before thinking about playing regular season games overseas. And to do that they first have to offer
the NFL package at a low cost until a market develops.

Of course there are enough fans in Mexico and Canada to be able to sustain such games but only just.

I read in an article the other day that the league is going to have the 49ers and Cardinals play in Mexico City instead of playing in Phoenix in an attempt to exand the league internationally. And supposedly, the league is looking into other locations for upcoming seasons to host a regular season game elsewhere. In my opinion, this is a bad move on the part of the league in the sense that they are taking away a home game from the Cardinals. Granted, the Cardinals havent been good for many years, but y should the league almost punish the cardinals by making them play in another city let alone another country. Now i know with everything going on with the fins this post is way off the subject, but i was just curious bout all of ur thoughts.

Arizona agreed to it. They aren't being punished.

It's the greatest thing ever playing regular season games out of the USA. Expand the market, establish the NFL brand even more.

Get ready to see more and more of it in the near future. This is just the first small step.

Dumb!!!!! Take revenue away from the team owners' and the communities? Really dumb!!! They have NFL Europe. When the stadiums fill there than let's talk.

Let's see. Play a home game and draw maybe 50,000 (if their lucky) which is a small gate by NFL standards. Or play in Mexico City and draw over 100,000 and get a good cut of that gate. Which gate would you like?????

Arizona made money off this deal or else they wouldn't agree to it.
