What happens if this team makes the playoffs this season?

Why the heck does it have to be the "century" did this team not start 0-7 and end up with a pretty fair record afterwards? Despite the lack of an offseason, despite the poor Qb play, despite the inconsistencies etc etc

I really don't get it. This obviously shows we have players and talent on the team and hopefully with a full off-season program with better coaching and a player here or there we can improve by a few games to get a playoff birth...

With all due respect I think you hit the nail on the head when you just said, " you really don't get it "...

Now if you would only believe that

It's absolutely possible for a team like ours to come together and overachieve.  Happens all the time.

It requires a few things though - chemistry and motivation.  I am sure Philbin and his staff are good, but they have an uphill battle ahead of them in fighting off the sour taste of an offseason that is already off to the wrong foot.  That is why I don't see it happening for our Phins this season, and that has nothing to do with the talent that is or isn't on the roster.

And if we are sub .500 again will the front office backers admit they were wrong? That hypothetical knife cuts both ways.

No.

Next season it will start again by blaming the fans...

We saw this same threads last year and during the crappy season...

The blind faith front office defenders are never wrong. It us fans that are at fault since we know nothing!

6-10 is a "pretty fair record" now? Way to lower the bar, pal. No wonder you're so content with the F.O.

I'm extremely happy to respond to this. If that happens then it will be clear, given that Mr. Ireland would have had essentially a full-offseason plus/minus how you calculated the previous non offseason, he was given a truly "fair" shot and at that point would need to go. I don't think we are "clearly" at that point yet!

Mods - Could these rose-colored denial threads merged into a mega "I'm a real fan because I unconditionally support and love the management of the Miami Dolphins" thread?
Only if they merge the doom and gloom or the "hey look what this guy said about Miami!" threads.

It crazy fans are going out of their way to look for people to bash their team. Thats like looking for someone on the outside to bash your family problems. These are the real fans? Whatever happened to we can fight internally amongst ourselves but no matter how bad our internal strife gets we will punch the first non-family member that tries to talk smack about us?

If the Dolphins make the playoffs... Well I'll tell you......

If the Dolphins make the playoffs. 1st expect to hear the ringing of a Bell... almost deafing! 2nd the sky will turn black as night even though it's the middle of the day. 3rd you'll hear the hoof strikes of three hoarsemen. And then frogs falling from the sky, pestilence, yada yada......

You tell us how we will win. Please sell me

I can't sell you on anything right now for several reason(mainly its way to early) but i can give you insight into some precendence with other teams:

Recently top of my head the Bengals, the lions, broncos, Tennessee, Texans, seattle

All of these teams perhaps except for texans seem to have gone from okay to playoff teams. once more besides the texans none of those teams prior to their seemly 1 year wonder are that much more talented than we currently are not one.

Very simple. If we make the playoffs in 2012 then 2013 is a big favorite to be a comparative disaster. It's a bounce league. I've pointed that out many times. If a team wins 3 games more than the prior season, or loses 3 more games than previously, the following season generally rebounds toward the past level. It's the number one most reliable criteria toward betting season win over/unders.

Fans and media invariably make the mistake of projecting a team to continue along the same path. That's how you get nonsense like the Dolphins picked toward the Super Bowl a year after one of the surprise seasons like 2005 or 2008.

If we manage the playoffs with Moore or Garrard at the helm it won't be foundational. The roster certainly is not a playoff roster. Unless we make a draft move and somebody like Tannehill or Weeden makes a huge quick impact, a playoff berth essentially would mean we would be drafting later than our talent level warrants.

Also, the stadium would remain a glorified coat closet, our schedule annually the equivalent of 8 road games and 8 home/neutral.

Why is it so impossible to see this team, heck as its currently constructed win 3-4 more games than last season and making the playoffs? Do we really need to list and talk about all the other teams in the league that seem to have gotten better over night?

I disagree with Moore at the helm because last year he had his moments and if he were at the helm(the start of this season) and we made the playoffs it suggests that he's more likely a player than not.
