What If The Top 5 O-lineman

I thought I recalled him playing some RG but maybe not

I remember him playing fairly good too.

Every week we had a different starting line. I recall one yeah under The Meatball we had like 11 or 12 different starting OL combinations. The most in the league.

In a regular season game?

There's a decent chance a RG falls to us in TC cuts. Wont be a great RG, but likely better than Thomas. I think the rest of the line is set after RG.

Albert - Smith - Pouncey - Turner - James

That is the way to go, IMO. Two great pass blocking tackles, three good run blockers in the interior. Questionable pass-blocking from our guards.

We want to do a lot of inside zone runs with this offense. Get those three man movers in there. I guarantee you will get 4 yards per carry inside with that crew.

I havent seen it from Shelley Smith yet. Against Tampa I saw him standing around looking for someone to block, running into the back of Satele on another play, and just an overall lack of awareness. He looks like a backup to me.

You must have missed this one, then. Just pushing a guy five yards downfield. That's what we need on the field.

My guess is they are more concerned with pass blocking than the run blocking, which is why Colledge is starting and they must think Dallas Thomas is better in pass pro than Turner who does have a lot of technique issues in pass blocking right now. Shelley Smith is also know more for his run blocking ability than his pass pro.

Reality is we're asking for a lot here. We want 5 new O-lineman to work in sync in a zone blocking scheme two games into preseason...we don't want to see any of our QBs get hit either. Considering where we were at this point last year I'd say we're much better up front than last year. I'm pretty sure the 1st team defense for the Bucs completely dominated us in the preseason last year as well...not to mention the regular season when we only had 14 yards rushing on them.

I might be getting him confused with Hadnot.

My god that depth chart is depressing.
That depth chart wasn't even good enough for an expansion franchise.

He's blocking a LB that was already 3 yards down the field, but yea thats a nice block. But seriously, one play doesnt define anyone.

We had net rushing yards of 2 against them, on 14 rushing plays.

Disastrous.

Sure, one play doesn't define anyone, but Daryn Colledge can't make that play, IMO.

I'm just saying that given the way we're going to try to run the ball and what our options are, I think it's the height of absurdity for Joe to not even try getting a couple of grown ass men in there to blow people up instead of hoping for 5% more pass blocking efficiency from two guys who couldn't run block a tackling dummy.
