What in the world are the Buffalo Bills doing?

Two things, Nubs:

1. Nobody wants to play in Buffalo. I know that money talks, but seriously, nobody wants to play in Buffalo. The story a year or so ago was that nobody wanted to come to Miami, but what's funny is that if you remember when Buffalo signed Mario Williams to that crazy contract, the narrative was "See? Players WILL come to Buffalo!" It was considered an important signing for the simple reason that a big name player actually chose to sign with the Buffalo Bills. Never mind that he's not that great and they paid him probably twice what anyone else offered, players will go to Buffalo now!

Sure, players WILL go to Buffalo -- if you grossly overpay them with a ten figure contract. But that leads to point 2....

2. Ralph Wilson is a cheapskate. Ralph and Mike Brown are probably furious over the provision in the CBA that forces teams to spend beyond the new salary floor.

This is one of the most absurd arguments. Until last year, Dolphins had a tough time bringing in any big name FAs or even coaches. All of a sudden, they signed truck load of players this year to some big contracts. Are you telling me that players are now willing to play for Dolphins and a GM that will insult you with questions like "is your mother a whore/hooker"?
Jets were a hot team coming off its second consecutive AFC Championship game at the start of 2011. They could not persuade Namdi to join them when Namdi was publicly wanting to play for rex and with Revis. He signed with Eagles.

Moral of the story? Money talks. You pay enough and players/coaches WILL play/coach for you. Jets have about $8mil in cap space and can generate another $15 mil via restructures. With a potential $23mil cap space, they could have signed all the players Dolphins did if they chose to. But they are playing it safe since they have some major personnel decisions next year (Sanchez, Holmes, Revis, Cromartie,
I think the players coming to Miami proves that the whole perception that Ireland was turning off veterans was ridiculous. That theory was blown out of the water after they signed the biggest name on the market in Wallace and two of the top linebackers on the market in Ellerbe and Wheeler. Gibson signed for a lower contract than he was seeking and he joins a crowded corps with Wallace, Hartline and Bess. Yet he visited the Jets and with what they have in terms of receivers he would definitely see much more playing time there. He chose the Dolphins over the Jets because he liked the direction of the team. Dustin Keller couldn't get out of New York fast enough and he took a one year deal in Miami because he wanted to be here. He was seeking a long term contract, yet settled for the one year deal because this was the only team he wanted to play for. Your starting guard is in Miami right now talking to the team about signing. Dumervil has expressed interest in Miami, yet the Dolphins haven't returned the interest yet. There is also mutal interest between Osi Umenyiora and the Dolphins. Eric Winston is meeting with the Dolphins today and it was reported that this was the job he was holding out for.

Fact is, players WANT to play for the Dolphins. You can say money talks, but in the case of guys like Gibson and Keller, they took less than what they probably could have gotten elsewhere. It is funny that people still bring up the "prostitute" question from three years ago to try and talk smack about the Dolphins and Ireland. Fans might think it matters, but by the actions of the players they don't care about an isolated incident that happened years ago. They recognize that something special might be being built here and they want to be part of it.

You can also try and talk about how Miami will be in cap hell in the future like the Jets are right now. Not even close to being accurate. If the cap remains flat next year, they are currently around $20 million below the cap. Certainly not what they had entering this offseason, but still not anywhere close to the mess you guys are going through.

Before you start talking about restructures and the potential FAs the Jets could sign, you need to do some research so you have a grasp of what the Jets are dealing with.

It is funny how Jets fans can turn the attention of any thread in their direction in an attempt to stay relevant. This thread is about the Buffalo Bills and their lack of a clear plan to upgrade. The Jets are on a whole different level of mess, but let's try and keep it on topic.

You guys act like the NFL doesn't want the Bills in Toronto. lol. Couple more stinkers and the ol' man kicks it and the Bills will leave town faster than Saban snuck out of Miami during the night.

Haven't they had difficulty selling out the 4 games in Toronto?

I think the NFL definitely wants the Bills in Toronto, just like they want a London team, but the reality of the market is much different from Roger Goodell's mind worm pipe dream.
