On paper this year, what are the differences (throw out years past)?

Defense: The Dolphins and Jets both have great defenses - both were top 6. The key difference here is the Jets ability to make big plays on defense. Did you know Jason Allen led this team in interceptions with 3? Yeah, that's not gonna cut it. The Jets have a knack for finding the ball, while we do not. This is one of the reasons I'm very pro Reshad Jones, I want that ability to snatch the ball away. However, this year I feel we can generate more of a pass rush, and I feel with the loss of Coleman, we could potentially have a secondary on par with NY. If we can force more turnovers, I give the edge to us.

Offense: I feel skill-wise Sanchez and Henne are on the exact same page, but the difference here is that Sanchez is able to put the team on his shoulders and win the game in the 4th/OT. He can make the throws when they count, and Henne cannot. He also benefits from a better running game with Greene/LT, but I think the Bush/Thomas combo will be good for us. As for the O-lines, both teams have some pretty severe concerns, so I guess we'll wait till the regular season to see about that.

Coaching: Rex is an intense guy, and he amps up his players, which is great, but they can be a little uncontrollable in the media and on the field. On the other side Tony is a no nonsense guy who goesn't tolerate egos and is pretty low key, and it's reflected by the lack of penalties we've had these past 3 years. Once again the Jets, I feel edge us slightly here again because Rex has done what he's supposed to do. Make the D better. 3 years later Tony's O-line is still behind where we want it to be.

There's my two cents. Still think we're capable of overtaking them. It all hinges on big plays on defense, and Henne's arm.

Team are pretty equal in terms of talent. They do seem to turn it on come playoff time. We seem to fizzle. THAT"S what must change.

I dont think anyone can really tell.

We saw the new offense the other night. well, its a helluva lot better than what we were doing. So I dont think we really can make comparisons. I do know that sanchez throws a much better slant pass than chad.

Our defense last year had twenty + dropped INT's. I dont see that happening again. I think this defense will kick some butt. It will be more coverage though than sack driven IMO. But what the hell do I know? We simply have to make bigger plays.

The difference to me is not between the two teams, but more the diff between this year and last years dolphins team. We killed ourselves on offense due to bad coaching and gameplanning (roll dice). We have found tgeh right players to spread this offense out. The matchups will be different. The margin of playoff and not is really not that far off since we made the neccessary changes this offense needs. The Jets really have stood still. We have not(for the better). That is all i can tell at this point.

Their offensive line was awesome last year and that was the biggest difference in the two offenses. I expect them to be good again this year. Advantage Jets.

Also, that little runt of a tight end always comes up with a big play whereas our TE always seems to drop the ball. Advantage Jets.

Sanchez improved while Henne regressed in what was hopefully just a sophomore slump. Advantage Jets.

Defenses were not too much different, but the Jets secondary was better and came up with bigger plays . Advantage Jets.

Jets ST's are well coached with Westhoff and our ST's was miserable (WHY did they let him go?). Advantage Jets.

I think the rest of the teams are pretty well a push.

So their OL, QB, TE, DB's and ST's are better IMO, and that is why they will win more games than us.

thats interesting. you spoke in the past tense. so everything is last year. interesting.

The difference is...

As Dolphin fans we keep making Jet threads and Jet fans don't think twice about us.

oh i got one! One coach has a better fist pump but the other likes to break his headset.

The only got damn difference between the teams is that one fan base believes and expects their team to win and the other fan base waits and expects bad things to happen. Talent wise both teams are dead even.
