What is the difference between the Dolphins and Jets?

Defense: The Dolphins and Jets both have great defenses - both were top 6. The key difference here is the Jets ability to make big plays on defense. Did you know Jason Allen led this team in interceptions with 3? Yeah, that's not gonna cut it. The Jets have a knack for finding the ball, while we do not. This is one of the reasons I'm very pro Reshad Jones, I want that ability to snatch the ball away. However, this year I feel we can generate more of a pass rush, and I feel with the loss of Coleman, we could potentially have a secondary on par with NY. If we can force more turnovers, I give the edge to us.

Offense: I feel skill-wise Sanchez and Henne are on the exact same page, but the difference here is that Sanchez is able to put the team on his shoulders and win the game in the 4th/OT. He can make the throws when they count, and Henne cannot. He also benefits from a better running game with Greene/LT, but I think the Bush/Thomas combo will be good for us. As for the O-lines, both teams have some pretty severe concerns, so I guess we'll wait till the regular season to see about that.

Coaching: Rex is an intense guy, and he amps up his players, which is great, but they can be a little uncontrollable in the media and on the field. On the other side Tony is a no nonsense guy who goesn't tolerate egos and is pretty low key, and it's reflected by the lack of penalties we've had these past 3 years. Once again the Jets, I feel edge us slightly here again because Rex has done what he's supposed to do. Make the D better. 3 years later Tony's O-line is still behind where we want it to be.

There's my two cents. Still think we're capable of overtaking them. It all hinges on big plays on defense, and Henne's arm.

What I bolded is the biggest difference in my opinion.

Jets have a better GM,Better coach,better QB,better playcalling in seasons past,better o-line,better TE,better secondary

Don't just look at #s, there is a big difference btw our QBs which is why you guys are still looking for one and we are not. Sanchez has been a leader from day 1, he makes plays at big moments and elevates his play in the biggest games. Also remember he didn't have a year to learn under a vet like Chad P and he had the presure to not screw things up from day 1. Going into the last 2 years I have heard how Miami had a better OL, better RBs, better receivers yet it doesn't translate on the field- why is that? Blame the OC all you want but jet fans whine as much about our OC as you did about Henning. The bottom line is that the QB needs to execute and Sanchez keeps getting better while henne has gotten worse. Things can change but going into this year the 2 aren't very close.

If Marshall would start scoring 60-70 yard TDs on comebacks, then I'm sure Henne would be "getting better" too.

Back to the topic of the thread...Miami winning 4 of the last 5 against the Jests in close games show that these teams aren't far apart at all. In fact I think 2nd place in the AFC east is a toss up this year with the Pats taking the division.

That was one play where he threw a perfect pass for edwards to be able to turn and take off.

4 of the last 5 means nothing, 3 of the last 4 means something b/c those are the games rex has coached in but it shows you match up well w/ us but you can't beat other teams you need to beat to be a playoff contender.

The div is a tossup, the battle will be for 3rd btw Miami and Buffalo.

One play for a long TD maybe...did you watch the playoffs last year? Remember the 3 TD game? Short slant to Braylon, broke 3 tackles for a TD. Short left to LT who took off with it for TD. Endzone toss up for Holmes who made an amazing catch.

As good a coach as Rex has been, BB owns him and he knows it.

Great throw to Braylon on a huge 3rd down
great throw to LT to allow him to easily get into the EZ
GREAT throw to Holmes, perfect throw for the huge TD.

Do all TD passes have to travel 60 yds in the year to impress you?

How exactly does BB own Rex when Rex is 3-2 against him uncluding winning the lone playoff matchup on the road? Did you add something special to your coffee this morning?

Looking at situational stats, Henne's numbers get very bad in the 4th quarter, and are really bad when he has a lead. His numbers are much better when he is behind
