What makes this dolphins team the best in many years.

the secondary is going to be a big question mark......for sure. I know we will be a more
zone scheme this year and reggie howard did start for a superbowl team....t buckey jones is very capable. depth will be a concern......which we will address as the rosters are trimmed down around the league. New England won a superbowl with young players
and that is our encouragement.

so i wouldn't call it a SEVERE problem................yet
 
There was a great quote by Saban about something he learned from a coach ( I don't recall the name) a long time ago. He said that if you want to know how good your team is look at the bottom half of you roster.

so saban will get the team in serious contention in 2 years or so, next year i can see miami in the playoffs but not going all the way, 07 looks interesting.....

That is not all true. If your top half is only as good as your bottom half, (assuming the bottom half is not all starting material)you could be Cincy of the late 80's and 90's
 
A healthy David Boston would be pretty significant. Our offense will definitely be better, no question. With Chambers, Booker, Boston, McMichael and Brown/Gordon coming out of the backfield, that's a pretty solid group. I also believe this will make our OLine much better as well. There is good reason to be optomistic about this year and we shouldn't let any Pats, Jets or Bills fans come on here and try to make us feel any different about it. They are just scared!!
 
What will make this team better.......DISCIPLINE and ACCOUNTABILITY!!! All brought in by a better coaching staff. We are deeper at some crucial positions than in years past namely DT. I read Terry Tates reply about DT but even without Traylor, Kevin Carter can be moved to DT, as could Holliday in an emergency. If Bowens retires we could be in need of another DT. Houck turned undrafted OL into a cohesive unit, I have no doubt that he can do it again. AJ given confidence that as soon as he reaches the end of his five step drop, he isnt going to get KILLED will be better(guy has a ton of heart, and a good arm just had a piss poor coach last year). He will also have a running game and a safety valve in the passing game in Ronnie Brown. I think we will be competitve in every game, a few good bounces and we could win 9+ games. A few bad ones and we could lose 9. I think every game will be close!

We are not going to run the same "lame" D. However, I agree that all optimism should be tempered. There are still a lot of questions on this team, especially in the secondary. Madison has been declining the last couple of years, and is now more injury prone as well. Perhaps more concerning is the safety position, which looks to be in a pretty serious state of decline. Few seem to be paying attention to this, but I think it is our most significant weakness on D.

I completely disagree with you here. I believe football games are largely won or lost on the line of scrimmage. The line is what slows down the run game and lets linebackers roam. It is the most important link in stopping the run. Furthermore, we have enjoyed a stellar secondary the last few years, yet they were repeatedly burned in big games. Interceptions have declined, and the pass defense would always falter at the worst time, despite our excellent corners. In these situations, the one constant was lack of pass rush from our line. Pressure is key. A good DL that provides consistant pressure is going to win far more games than a poor DL with a great secondary. A QB makes poor decisions under pressure and can't throw at all when he is on his back. Ask AJ. I am sure he would tell you how effective a strong DL is against the pass.
 
I'm not too big on projections but what really excites me is TC. With a new coaching staff there's is a limited amount of players that are "safe" at thier respective spots, so that means there's a lot of playing time up for grabs and good enough depth that should create some hellacious position battles, players constantly trying to outdo each other to impress the new coaches. It's gonna be a hot, hot summer!!!!

I'm sure Tom Brady could also say a thing or two about making poor decisions under pressure.... Anyone remember the Monday night 4 Int game last season?? Those weren't bone-headed throws that he just gifted us!!! (As some here would claim!!!:fire: ) Taylor and Co were on his *** all freaking night!!

So having seen the 'Great Tom Brady' crumble like that under pressure I think Feeley is worthy of a decent shot with a REAL O-line!!:cooldude:
