It was a learning experience that I needed. If i had to do it all over again, I would.CanadaPhinsFan said:I suppose that's one way to get the job done. Doesn't sound all that different from what Manny Wright went through at the beginning of camp...

The fans still believe in him.
At the end of Shula's career fans were calling for his head.
JJ came in a lot like Saban. Infallible in the fans eyes. By the end, we wished we had a Hershel Walker to trade.
Wannstedt won a division title in his first year, but the inability to draft or develop a QB or offensive line did him in. Fans were calling for his head.
Saban is a lot like JJ in that he comes in with credibility, unlike a promoted assistant might, and there is a top candidate air about him. What makes me optimistic is that Saban is approaching this without the ego that Jimmy did. He doesn't need to piss all over the past in order to make himself look good. He is not an offensive guy, so he hires the best coordinator available.
I just hope the fans are not all calling for Saban's head in two or three years....stay tuned
