McMike has several problems .. all of them add up to trouble .. he talks about being the teams spiritual leader and thats fine but he has always been a little too demonstrative for what he has done .. I am not into players who go nuts when they get a first down ,and yet thier team is losing!... Save that **** for wins or touchdowns .. i would say that if randy doesnt shut up and start playing football:ie.catching .. and BLOCKING,then he will defintely be gone .. he aint no shannon sharpe... and untill he helps this TEAM become better he is not a leader ..unless you want to count how many times this guy is gonna beat his wife. Sorry but he and chambers are suppose to be our "super stars"... I just dont see it that way... good players? yes .. but i have been hearing about these two as probowlers and it just isnt true. We dont need anymore vocal leaders .. we need playmakers! Maybe they will be this year but i am not holding my breath.

Totally agree.

I say trade him, either in season or before next draft. He blocks as well as a Lace Curtain, he has an off field issue with anger and his wife, which could lead to greater problems including Jail down the road, he has slowly gone backwards but his ego and view of himself has gone forwards. With the WRs we have there isn't a need for a Gates or Gonzales type TE, we need a servicable TE, who can catch and BLOCK. Wiggins led MN last year in Receptions and he is not a super star but a solid TE who fills out all the TE roles.

McMike will have to step up for the entire season if he is going to get the contract he wants next year. McMichael is another athlete that has all the tools available to be elite, but just can't get it together consistantly. It was easy when he was a rookie and he wasn't the focus, but now that he is, the chinks in the armor are showing.

Randy started last season off with a bang, but finished with a wimper. He has been given to lots of drops and the dreaded fumble by trying to turn every reception into a Sportscenter highlight. To top it off, he is not a very good blocker and he has major off field issues. He could set the world on fire this year, but it is more likely that he will continue to be inconsistant.

If Randy can succeed consistantly this year, then he should get a reasonable contract extension (nothing huge)...if not, then he should be packaged for picks or let go. It is worth noting that Gates will be available next year, as he has signed a minimum contract with San Diego so that he can get out next year. The idea of trading for him and Rivers might not be as far fetched as it sounds.

Alrite he does drop passes but not as much as everyone exaggerates. Plus he also comes up with a lot of catches because he gets single coverage and I want someone who has proven he can produce on this offense right now. Also, the biggest thing on his game that needs to improve is not his hands but his blocking. He needs to pick up blitzes and get a little more agressive because our o-line needs all the help they can get.

He is sticking around. Linehan also didn't get to work with a TE of his caliber the last few years. Let him see what McMichael can do and work him into his system.
Someone to go deep and fight for those jump balls=Chambers
Someone with the size to take it across the middle=Boston
Someone who can chip off a blitz block and get those tough short yardage plays=McMichael
Someone to throw the rock=?

I think his performance this season will dictate what happens to him, don't you all?

pigskinguyI'd say the team does nothing with him untill they find out if he's gonna go to jail for beating his wife.

 Sounds like a plan to me. It seems he not only has spousal problems but his production is slipping as well.
Those two things may be related... Not trying to make excuses, but IF he is not focused out on the field, that could cause his decline.

As for what to do next season... lets see how he plays this season. He is yet to put up a WHOLE season of production.

Look, if he has a bad season, we sign him i say. But, sign him to a deal commensurate with his play. Which means he WON'T get the big bucks. I wouldn't mind keeping for 2-4 mill. If we do, then he still might improve and we can then redo his contract later on.

That is a very interesting view. That would also probably be the "ideal" situation for the Dolphins...he has a better than average, but less than stellar season, noone wants to bet the farm on him being their savior, we get to lock him up long-term relatively cheap, and he has his breakout season next year...when he's ours. I could live with that scenario. :)

Sign him either by a Franchise Tag or thorough a big deal. I have seen to many people blowing things out of proportion lately and I knew that someone would post that McMike sucks.

Obviously there are many factors with him, we shall see how this works out.

Randy is a good friend, and I can't stand to hear you people saying Randy half a's it, doesnt try hard, drops every pass, gives up. Do you know how much passion this guy has? If you are going to question his passion and work ethic, well that's scary, because that leaves Chris Chambers, Marty Booker, David Boston, Ricky Williams, because they must have no passion. Randy gives everything his has to his team, his offense, his game. Everyone drops passes, you guys are just trying to act like the media, blow everything out of proportion. I guess you guys want to see what Diamond and Lee do for us, I think that's what everyone wants.

I am sorry if I offended you, but, as you could tell from reading my previous posts...I am a straight shooter. I call them like I see them. He had a wonderful 1st half of last season, but noone has heard from him since. IMO, he needs to get his off-field life out of his head during practice/gameday, start focusing a little bit more, and live up to his talent/potential. The free ride is over and he needs to prove his worth NOW.

Does anyone see a possibility of a swap in TE's. I mean both Arturo Gates and McMike are up for grabs in FA ... do you think there's any chance that the teams decide to focus on each others TE? I wouldn't mind seeing Gates in Miami from FA no matter where McMike goes. They both have a few problems but Gates is mostly about the money and McMike is money and headcase problems.
