What To Do With Pouncey?

Honestly, now would be the time to trade him, even though his trade value will be down. Look, when you replace 4 OL starters there will be zero chemistry across that OL. You might as well nuke the whole OL and start fresh. If you can get a 1st or 2nd for him--and honestly we probably can--then it is probably the right thing to do. Then use some of the salary cap money to bring in a couple of good OL to rebuild this line and teach the approximately 3 rookies I suspect we will draft.

I dont want to give up on Pouncey yet,BUT with that said,he better get his act and @ss together and do it quick ! I said this in another thread, and I'll put it here to.....

I honestly even still wonder what Pouncey may have really known even when it comes to what Hernandez may have even done.especially in the first incident they think he (Hernandez) may have ben involved in. I hope Pouncey isnt involved or knows so much he gets implicated, but one things for sure,he better start watching his steps,he's getting very close to not only getting the bad rep that Incognito does,he is tip towing borderline legal issues and that wih law enforcement as well.

I'm thinking that Pouncey may get a 2 game suspension based on the Wells report, which is not a big deal. However, along with a couple of other off field issues, he is obviously not a Philbin type of guy. I'm guessing the Ross and Philbin will be telling Hickey that we need to make a trade, and move on from this mess.

Pouncey is an All Pro talent, who was the #1 C in pass blocking, while having a bad year in run blocking. IMO, he is worth a #1 draft pick in the coming draft. I do not believe we can get anyone as good or better in trade but, believe it is something we will do.

IF this happens, we will be putting together an OL kinda like an expansion team.

Opinions?

What? Of course he is a "Philbin type of guy"! He seems to be EXACTLY a Philbin type of guy. Philbin has got rid of anyone with any type of leader ship qualities...

I don't know where the MYTH of Philbin getting "guys with integrity", because quite frankly, he hasn't done it. His "type of guys" seem to be a bunch of spoiled brat frat boys...

Trade him or cut him!!!! It is clear now, he just a flat out disgusting person.

If we can get a 1st rund pick for him I'd trade him in a heart beat. We're mst likely ging to be starting 4 new guys on that o-line. Starting 5 new guys won't make a big difference. Pouncy's a time bomb waiting to explode. Now I don't want to just give him away for nothing but I'll even take a 2nd round pick for him. Give me 5 guys that might not have all the talent but are hungry and care about the game instead of 5 guys that just want to get loaded and laid all the time. If if was my call, he'd go.

Ozzy rules!!

Pouncey will be 25 in July, and has a total cap hit of $3M this season. I was wrong in his having 2 years left on his contract. He will be a FA after this year. This changes things some, as I doubt either the team or Pouncey would like to continue on together, JMO.

We would save his $1.6M salary but, take the $1.4M bonus hit, no money advantage.

Now, I'm thinking a 2nd is likely his trade value, and that a trade is even more likely. To wait a year, and get nothing, makes no sense.

CORRECTION- Miami has an option to extend Pouncey a year by guaranteeing his fifth year by May. The two years on rookie contract money does improve his trade value.

Man where prognosticators get this? Unless he violated everything in the code of conduct manual I'd say fine him, and what is this he's not Philbin's type of player? man u crap on somebody u really leave a big load, Pouncey is the best center in the NFL that does carry a lots of weight.

Pouncey is not the best center in the NFL at this time

Man some of you guys over value Pouncey a great deal. He isnt the best C in the league.

Again, Brandon Albert's trade value going into the last year of his deal was a 2nd rounder. Eugene Monroe was traded to Baltimore for a 4th and 5th rounder on the last year of his deal. Im guessing a 4th and 5th rounder comes out to about a 2nd round value.

Pouncey is going into the last year of his deal. And thanks to SouthBeach for discovering he has a club option for another year on that deal that must be activated by May. But, really are teams going to want to pull the trigger on that extra year considering all that is hanging over Pouncey's head right now?

When you consider all of the negatives and the baggage that come with Pouncey, believing we could get anything more than a 2nd or 3rd for him is just silly based on the trade market that was set for some upper level LTs last year.

You guys act like Pouncey isnt easily replaceable. He is. We need to rebuild this whole OL anyway. May as well get rid of all the trash at once.

Pouncey is a top ten center with All Pro talent. He was #13 last year (#1 in pass protect), and #8 in 2012. He's 25 and has not hit his prime. He is easily one of our best players, and is overvalued because we don't have that many.

I would like to keep him, and his cheap contract but, all things considered I think it would be in the best interest of our team to make the trade and move on. IF we had a different organization and HC, I would be thinking differently.
