What was the most disapointing loss in Dolphin history?

As a young fan I would have to say the meltdown in the meadowlands really hurt as did the 62-7 playoff loss.

One that really stands out from the stories I have heard though is the 74 playoff loss to the Raiders, just listening to the way that game went makes me feel sick, I couldn't imagine having actaully watched that game.
Oh, and the loss to the Patriots in 2002, we were had are best chance at the Superbowl in years and we didn't even make the playoffs in such a controversial game.

How bout the game we choked against New England in 2003. If we win that game we make the playoffs. Even earlier in the year when Mare killed us against the Patsies in OT.

This is NOT the most disappointing loss for me, but this thread makes me think back. Do any of you guys remember when we were playing the Colts and Danny was driving us down the field, seemingly for another one of his 4th qtr comebacks. We got inside the 10 yard line and I JUST KNEW we had it won. Everyone knew. The crowd knew, the announcers knew. Then Marino drops back and drills the ball to the right (I don't remember who the intended reciever was) but Steve Emtman jumped up and the ball STUCK IN HIS MASK and he ran back all the way for a Colts touchdown. I was in total SHOCK!! Who else remembers that game? Other than the "Miracle in the Meadowlands" I don't think I have ever cussed so much.

1985 AFC Championship game by far for me. Tough to swallow. It's like we played thinking we had already won. Still bothers me.

I don`t think there`s any infield dirt during a playoff game in January.

LMAO, yes you are correct. How silly of me. For some reason, I just remembered Miller getting absolutely raped on that play and a little cloud of dust coming up. Maybe it was some other game in preseason or something where he got jacked.

I'll stick to the games I watched personally since I'm only 24. The loss to SD in what? 1993 or '94? The NE game where Lamar Smith fumbles at about the 5 yd. on a pass completion and NE goes on to wim 16-13 I believe and go on to win their 1st SB. And then the other NE game where we were killing them with Ricky the 1st half and then choked under Wanny's conservatism. There are others but I don't feel like being depressed all day so I'll stop there.

1) Super Bowl loss to San Fran
2) Meadowlands Nightmare... I've never been so pissed off as I was after that game, thank goodness I don't know any Jets fans :wall:

The SB in which Dan didn;t get his ring even though I wasn't watching football then...

And the Monday Night Collapse to the NYJ. :nono:

I was too young for the 80's games. The most disapponted I've ever been was after a playoff game against the Chargers in 94 or 95. At halftime they interviewed Rod Woodson and he said "it looks like we'll be playing Miami in the championship game." The second half was a disaster, I think Miami came out up 21-7 or something and San Diego came back. I remember a touchdown run by Natrone Means, he stepped out of bounds at around the 3 and of course the refs signaled touchdown. I'm not lying, he was that far from the goal line. It just seemed the refs were against us the whole half. The final drive our little reciever from UCLA (I forget his name) was smacked in mid air as the ball was coming at him from Marino and the ref was seriously torn on if he should throw the flag...after about 5 seconds he knew it was too obvious not to call it. He looked mad that he had to actually call a penalty against San Diego. It gave us a shot at around a 48 yard field goal that Stoyo missed and the game ended. I was really down on that one. San Diego squeked by Pittsburgh and got smashed by San Fran in the SB. I actually rooted for the niners in that one, ugh.

Edit: I went to bed at the start of the 4th qrt of the Meadowland Meltdown. I got harrassed at work the next morning and I thought they were pulling a prank. I've never seen the highlights and still think Miami won and will not believe otherwise, we kicked their tails!:D

I have a distant memory of when I was 7 or 8, and I remember clearly watching a Dolphins game at my uncles, and I remember the missed FG and asked what happened. When I found out I was crushed for the night. That had to be the game.

How about the the Jets Monday Night Miracle. That loss really hurt me and at that point I knew wanny was a Crappy(worse word I would like to use) coach.

Mod: Thank you for that. We hope more people show that kind of restraint.
your wish is my command so i will behave and refrain from lowering the integrity of this splendid dolphins educational site.

the san fran loss was high on my list but as for the current losses i would say the monday night loss to the jets was upsetting and i will contribute it to the man who was responsible mr. dave w. and the jacksonville loss was really embarasing.

Being that I'm "young" I only remember so many games. But the game that killed me was:

Miami at San Diego, AFC Divisional Playoff

Good ol' Pete Stoyanovich. FG would've taken us to the AFC Championship.

When was that? 90, 91? I was 11 or 12. I cried too

Yes....

To me at least thats the most painful...It was Jan. of 1995 dude...

Though the Jan. '93 AFC championship game comes close...

Also the '90 divisional game as well...I wont even mention the opponent...

ugh, i forgot that day, conveniently: i was at work, watching on a portable tv, and after the loss and a long workday, i returned to the lot where my car was parked to find that it had been stolen... i think it must have been '93 or '94. i should have read the whole thread. jan. '95. i must have blocked out the whole month...
