What was the most disapointing loss in Dolphin history?

I agree, the loss to the Patriots back in 2002 was just awful. I'd put that right up their with all of them, that was gutwrenching, i almost cried i swear. Up until the 4th quarter i was walking around my living room triumphantly smiling that it was playoff time yet again, but then everything just went crashing down, and i couldn't actually see the game, CBS kept cutting back and forth since they weren't allowed to show the telecast. But when i saw Mare kick the ball out of bounds and Vinateri make the winning field goal, i almost threw up. It was awful, then i watched a game on fox between the Packers and the Jets, where 80,000 people at Giants stadium were cheering at the loss of the Dolphins because they knew if they beat the Packers they'd be in the playoffs, and it turned out they crushed the Packers, and gave my hated Eagles home field and my hated Jets a playoff birth. It was a miserable, miserable day.

3) Some younger fans might say the 62-7 playoff loss to JAX that ended the Johnson era, for me its not the most disapointing because I didn't feel we were good enough that year anyway.

For me......its the 1985 AFC Championship game at the Orange Bowl, the year the Bears were dominant and only lost to Marino and the Dolphins on Monday night, we should have beaten the Pats that day and Marino should have had his second crack at a Superbowl win against that great Bears team he had already beaten....instead the Dolphins fumbled the ball 5 or 6 times(can't remember which one) and the Patsies went on to get slaughtered in Superbowl XX.__________________
Yeah that blow out was dissapointing it was Marino's last and worst game.
I've seen highlights of the 85 game and yeah that does suck.

62-7

Dan's last game, and I got A LOT of **** from that from a lot of people.

ID AGREED ADD IN THERE A COUPLE OF LATE LOSSES TO THE BILLS WHEN JIM KELLY WAS THERE... EARLY 90'S:rolleyes:

That Riggins run killed me almost as much as it killed the Dolphins that day.

San Diego wore me out too but, that was such a great game it almost didn't feel like a loss.

Yeah that Riggins run, even though our quarterback was horrible that day I still felt we could win that one with defense, we were leading going into the 4th quarter.

I'll never forget that play where Bokamper almost put it away after batting Thiesmans pass into the air near their goalline and Thiesman got to it just before Bokamper preventing and interception and touchdown.

How about Super Bowl 17 vs. The Redskins? Where Miami actually was winning, and controlled the tempo for pretty much the whole game, but the turning point for me was when a Dolphin defender rushing Theismann almost picked up a pass deep in Redskins territory but dropped it. Then of course John Riggins showed his face and ran the ball down our throat and ran the Redskins to their first Super Bowl victory.

Edit: Blue you JUST beat me to that

How about the the Jets Monday Night Miracle. That loss really hurt me and at that point I knew wanny was a Crappy(worse word I would like to use) coach.

I was a sportsbar watching the Jets-Miami Monday Night game...I think we were up something like 31-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter......I decided to drive home and was listening to the game thinking the game was over.....I was so pissed at how we lost this game. I try to forget about this loss but I can't...this is why I am the #1 Jets Hater. :yell: But we have paid them back for it a few times.

I'm with you on both of these. I will never forgive Riggins for running over Don McNeil and scoring that TD. Poor little Don Mcneil.

The San Diego game was unbelievable. What a game. It has to be the greatest game ever played.

^ Oh that JETS game killed me, that game just killed me. I went to bed, honestly i did. I woke up the next morning and i was crushed, i couldn't even comprehend how it happened. Man, why do we have so many disappointing losses? Why dont we talk about FAVORITE WINS, i'm all depressed now :(

Being that I'm "young" I only remember so many games. But the game that killed me was:

Miami at San Diego, AFC Divisional Playoff

Good ol' Pete Stoyanovich. FG would've taken us to the AFC Championship.

When was that? 90, 91? I was 11 or 12. I cried too

the thing about the loss against Jax is if you really break it down the score doesn't really matter. It is my opinion that a blow out hurts the same no matter what the score was. It wouldn't of made me feel better if Miami lost 56-7, 49-7, 42-7, 35-7 or even 28-3. Nor would it made me feel worse if they lost 69-7 or had the record broke against them in a 84-0 romp. Basically the game sucked, fans of other teams will laugh at me, but watching it after the point where the game is over you have time to get over the loss while watching the game. I guess that had the extra string of Dan's last game, but still.

The worst losses are the ones where it is one big play. Like I bet the fake spike play sucked for Jet fans. Or the music city miricle must of been horrible for Bill fans. It is those games where you are celebrating and then you lose. That up and down motion that is literally painful. I know my Seahawk friend hates the Jet game with the helmet touchdown. That helmet cost his team the playoffs.

Among many others that game haunts me to this day, I have a friend who is a Redskins fan and any time we are arguing he just throws out 4th and 1, and it's like a knife to the heart.

Man Infins they had him stopped in the backfield on that play.

A game that stands out that wasn't as important of a game was a game in Miami against the Bills I think on opening day 1989, The Fins led most of the 4th quarter, Dan threw a late int and the Bills drove down to the two yd line with time for only one play, Kelly dropped back to pass and you could see it coming, he then took off for the endzone and dove as time expired to win the game for the Bills. I was screaming at the screen, He's going to run somebody get him. What made it worse was I was watching it with a bunch of Bills fans.

you're exactly right, that's why that Riggins run ripped my heart out. I'll never get over that one.
