Are you simple or what?, the 1972 Offense had 5 hall of famers and has been on the brink of 6, the 1985 offense will probably only place 2 in the hall of fame.
You think '72 was better? They both averaged 27 PPG BUT '72 did it against a MUCH weaker sched.
No, the 1985 Dolphins were not a good running team, they were one dimensional, how could they be better than a complete offense like the 1972 Dolphins?
'72 could run better but could not pass anywhere nar the '85 team. Are you telling me Griese was a better QB than Marino?
But they didn't and the only teams w/ winning records they faced were barely over. 500. They didn't face a playoff teama nd didn't face any good teams in the reg season which made 14-0 alot easier. And the fact is, if they had placed 12 teams in the playoffs in 1972 instead of 8 like they had in 1985, KC, Cinn., Detr. and NYG all would have been playoff teams, so the Dolphins would played 4 during the season.
Also, Minnesota was an excellent team that played in Superbowl 4 and would go on to play in Superbowl 8, 9 and 11, they were a real good team.
They were .500 that year, I don't care what they did in the past or the next year they were mediocre in 1972.
