What was Wanny thinking

You know how George Wilson is rarely mentioned on this site? I can't wait until the day Dave Wannstedt is the same way.

that's not even close to being fair, those of us old enough to remember can't remember any more, THATS why he is not mentioned.. :goof:

I Wish Wanny Well In Pitt, But Man Was It Time To Move On!!! I Can't Believe Ricky Williams Did What He Did Last Year, But Let's Think About It Now. Look At That Line They Had. And You Know Wanny Was Going To Run Ricky 40 Times A Game. And The Personnel Decisions Were Terrible And All The Desperate Trades!! Saban Is A True Coach And He Will Turn This Franchise Around. Wanny Left It In A True Mess. You Cannot Blame Ricky For Last Season. The Line Was Terrible. The Coaching Was Terrible. We Did Not Have Any Receivers For A While.

 Could Have Wanny messed up the the dolphins team any worse. To how many average players did Wanny give a big contract to Reggie Howard 21 mil and they are saying he might not even compete for the starting spot,Jenno James hasn't proved anything and he got a huge contract.David Boston got a rediculios contract that would of ate up a bunch of the cap, now we resighned him to a minimum. He gave the eagles a 2nd round pick for Feely. Then Ricky Williams retires so he gives the rams a 3rd round pick for Lamar Gordon what was he thinking a 3rd string back for the rams. The chiefs wanted to give us a 5th round pick for Surtain a proven CB.Then they barely gave us the 2nd round pick. I think coaches should get drug tested because Wanny was on something.

Im sure theres more that Wanny has done that i haven't covered so lets hear it.

Most of those moves where done by spielman NOT Wanstadt. besides those are good players. but yes we could have gotten most of them cheaper.

Hasn't this been hashed over and over again ??
Read some of the achived threads instead of starting a new thread of the same things...

Get over it you should..........better your life will become.......

it was'nt all wannys fault rick spielman had his part in this soap opra. when this club starts wining again the wanny and fielder threads will stop.

Of all the ridiculous things DW did, naming Fiedler the starting QB once again was the worst. What an absolutely pathetic decision. Not only was it evident by that time that Fiedler couldn't take us anywhere, but it also stunted the growth and confidence of Feeley. Yes it's old news as far as Wanny is concerned, but we are still feeling the repurcussions. Especially at the QB position, where AJ is STILL an unknown. Then when AJ gets his chance, he has no line, no running game and an offensive coordinator more succesful at downloading porn that running an offense in the NFL.

DW really knows how to handle QB's huh? I can go on and on, but I must let go of the bitterness.

So we hope. I pray every single night (and I'm not religious) that Saban will be the real deal. Yet, until he acomplishes something, he could be another (cringe**) Wanny. Lets hope not.

You're right he hasn't accomplished anything but I have a gut feeling this guy is infinitely sharper than Wanny. Look at how he stared down KC to get a second round pick for Surtain. Notice how he recruited the best assistant coaches at top dollar instead of hiring old pals like Tony Wise. He managed to bring back Boston and (maybe ?) Ricky for short money and cap-friendly deals. He picked up two guys who some projected as first round picks (Roth and Crowder) in the second and third rounds. All in all, my gut tells me this guy won't be a bust. Time will tell.

We must forget about Wanny. It is time to move on and think ahead, instead of the past.

Yes, we can simply answer the title of your thread "What was Wanny thinking?" with a simple "He wasn't.".

Haha, the other day I was looking through some new magazines and one of the cover stories was about Pitt football and it was called "Pitt Football: The Wannstadt Way" and I just started laughing. I will bet that Pitt won't be ranked in the top 25 by the end of the season.
