What Would a Howard Trade Market Look Like?

Do you really think "a little more gauranteed money" is what he is asking for, or will be satisfied with?

I would wager that is not the case.
Probably wants more but hopeful they can come to a agreement to give something slight this year with intentions of going deeper next off season if he lights it up again

Give him nothing. He hasn't been traded because he is not as desirable as you think.
1. He is almost 30
2. He is a hold out.
3. He has not been consistent at all in his success
4. Piss poor injury history.
5. Asking for new contract for 18-20 million at 29. Not many CBs make it past 32.

I seriously doubt anyone is beating down our door to sign a nearly 30 year old to a huge new contract.

He turns 28 July 4th. Has at least a couple good years left. Even would be just 30, in 3 seasons from now. We will not likely need him then. Stats do show most cornerbacks drop after age 26 or 27. If he does and we just pay him a little more guaranteed each year by year, we have him until 32 years old ,but could cut ties any year. Age 32 is when most elite cornerbacks contracts end currently.

So don't give him more than what he gets, just convert to some guaranteed money each off season that he deserves it. He must know too that they drafted Noah to replace him eventually.

I would bet he will be one of those great 30+ guys

We need to get on the phone with Houston. Their next years first round and X is theirs.

I doubt we even trade him. Stephon Gilmore can't even fetch a number 1. NE has been trying to trade him since last year's trade deadline.

Spike, when both sides are at odds with each other and are battling in the press, I'd say there is animosity. There is strong hostility right now, X is pissed about Jones, the Dolphin's are pissed that he's trying to hold them up and his agent wants some fresh money! I really think it qualifies as actual animosity! If you don't like the word animosity we can go with animus or good old bad blood. Whatever you want to call it is fine with me but if we end up losing this player we may look back and say man are we missing X!!!! I don't want that to happen and have this whole season blow up in our faces. Who's getting us 10 picks! The man DID outplay his contract imo. Nobody has had 10 picks since 2007, that's 14 years! I also see a good chance for X to be in the Hall Of Fame one day. I'd personally find a way to save face for everybody and keep him. I'm very concerned about our pass defense, going forward, without Howard. I want to see us with a shot at a Championship, you don't get there by losing your star players.
If you feel that I'm over reacting and overstating the value of Howard I would ask you to re watch a few games from last season and try to picture X not being there. He hold the whole D together imo. If we must lose him I'd like to get a player in return that's a proven star, just what we're giving up. Maybe trade for a RB or DE. But, I'm all for keeping #25. Either way, end this soon because it's already a big distraction.
Good/Excellent DB when healthy? Absolutely. Hall of Fame DB? No. Too many years injured and had his emergence a bit late in his career.

James, you could be 100% correct. My point was that Howard is the best player on our team and if we move him we'll miss him much more than anyone is thinking. Unless Iggy is ready to step up and step in there will be a giant hole in our defensive backfield. With all the upgrades we've made it's a shame to lose your star CB. It's like 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I want whatever brings our team closer to a Championship. X on our team brings us closer. If we lose X, every team we play will be thrilled not to face him. The Pats, Jets and Bills will be overjoyed not to face him twice a year. This dude gave us 10 picks last season. For example, Frank Minnifield, Hall Of Fame CB only had 20 picks in his whole 12 year career. I think what I'm saying here is that imo Howard is the most important player on our defense and he is indispensable.
If we MUST lose him, I'd rather get a star player that helps us win now then some down the road draft choice that could turn out to be Charles Harris!
