What would you do if........

What is he supposed to do?!?! For starter's he can not make this a Headline story for every sporting news outlet. If he was bullied ( i laugh when i type that because it's RIDICULOUS that a adult is being bullied) he should have either been a man and stand up to Richie or walk's his ass home and quit and not be a burden on his teammates that are fighting for the Playoffs.

He did walk home and quit. Incognito went over the line and now he has to pay for it. Stop blaming Martin, when it's what Incognito did that got him suspended. Martin couldn't have caused a problem in nothing had happened to him. Also stop acting like Martin told people he got bullied. I've yet to see Martin refer to it as bullying.

I'm having a hard dealing with the fact we're losing Richie over Martin and the fact that someone is this weak without actually being physically assaulted. The timing is awful and Richie is denying everything.

I learned something today. A lot of guys seem to be getting ripped off when buying a mirror. A lot of guys seem to look in to it and think it's reflecting a "real man" when (even though it should be) it isn't. The mirror industry is a fraud. It's leading people to a misunderstanding of what a "real man" is.

I want to be sensitive to Martin's situation, I really do...
But this guy quit on the team a few days before a game at a time when our OLine was already falling apart. He got another player suspended, again at a time when our Oline was falling apart. He is sacrificing the team, knowingly and willingly. Why go to the National media? Why not go to the coaches and tell them instead? If you are going to make it a public spectacle why not go to the coaching staff instead of the media? I hope this isnt a reflection that the players have zero faith in the coaching staff.
And I would have to assume some of his sensitivity is because he lost his starting LT job when they brought in McKinney.

It does suck, and I completely understand the frustration, but Richie obviously messed up. The team wouldn't suspend him over nothing. They saw the evidence and that is what they based their decision on. They didn't just take Martin's word for it. I think Johnathan Martin is probably just an awkward dude and doesn't have the skills to make the harassment stop. He is not a fighter, and obviously can't dish it back, so he finally just snapped. I was a bit of a bully back in my day, but I never would have blamed the victim for flipping out on me. It was my fault for giving them crap, not theirs because they couldn't take it.

Kind of where I am with the situation. I hope he gets help and betters himself. Maybe he can go retire somewhere with his earnings. But the way it was handled with the team was just bad.

Philbin is definitely on the hot seat

This is a job for these guys. Especially if you are a guy who isn't one of the boys. I have no problem with him walking away. That's his choice. I don't remember him going to the media either. I believe he just left.

If Richie did what was he has been accused of, he got himself suspended.

I get what you're saying; but based on this same logic there was no problem when Ricky Williams walked away (and he walked away before the season, not right in the middle). If that's your opinion, I respect it. I just think it is awful to walk away from a team, and all of the people depending on you, a couple days before they are supposed to go into battle. If it could have been avoided any other way then it should have been.

It's a little different because Ricky didn't have anyone making him feel like crap. I do believe it was Ricky's decision though and I can't be mad at him for walking away. Football is just a game, it really isn't all that important. Doing what makes you happy is far more important.

You say it is just a game, but in an earlier post you referred to it as a job. When you have a job you have responsibilities and people depending on you. If you just walk away you can really hurt your coworkers and put the company in a bad position. This is the equivalent of walking away from your job without giving them 2 weeks notice where they can figure out how to replace you.

I guess my opinion would change drastically if it turned out that Martin was afraid for his life or something. But if he just decided it wasnt "making him happy" then I have a real problem with him just quitting and not giving the team a better chance to prepare for it. There are a ton of other players depending on him, along with an entire fanbase. The dependability aspect is the nature of the game, it comes along with being an NFL player, and thats something you are aware of when you take that NFL paycheck.

Just an opinion, I don't mean to sound insensitive to his situation.
