Whatever happened to that phycoligist that can predict if a QB is good or not?

"Ryan Leaf will be a bust" - Wow, he's a genious :shakeno:

Was there another guy who claimed to do this sort of work who was a phrenologist? For some reason, I remember something like that.

I remember reading that he grabed a kid who had never played football before. Brain typed and said this kid (with coaching and avoiding injuries)can be a top 5 pick. He started in college as a freshman, I believe, until he got injured.

That would be Erik Ainge.

Also, he didn't say Eli wouldn't turn pro. He said he wouldn't be reach the level of Peyton. Said Eli might make a few Pro Bowls. But he'll never be at the top of the game.

I certainly can't vouch for the guy, but I do think there may be somethign to this for QBs. Some guys just seem to have that something special in their attitude, demeanor, etc. that separates them from the others. Success at QB seems to have very little to do with arm strength, speed, height, etc, and a lot to do with mental makeup. Some have both the physical attributes and the mental makeup (Marino, Manning, Favre) and others who seemingly have only the mental part (with just decent physical attributes) can be just as successful (Montana, Brady). Others who have the big arm and physical statute just seem to be knuckleheads and bust (Leaf, ASmith, Dan McGwire, Jim Druckenmiller, etc.) Whether this guy has really figured it out, I don't know, but I do believe that it may be possible to figure it out. While there was a lot of debate about Manning v. Leaf, not many people were saying that Leaf would be a bust. What was interesting about it was that Leaf was the one that everyone believed was more fiery and competitive. The concern with Manning was that he may have been too cerebral and didn't rise to the occasion in big games (that may actually be true).

:yeahthat:

What he said about Eli is that he wasn't the same brain type as Peyton and that he wouldn't have AS MUCH success.........but that got blown out of proportion and turned into "Eli will be a bust". It's still too early to tell if he's right.

I wonder if Saban knows about him or if Saban even consulted with him before the draft. It will be interesting to see if our QB'S end up sucking doo-doo and we need a QB in next years draft.

With these two QB's I don't think we need a phycoligist, but a gynocoligist!
