Whats up with you Pessimist?!

This about sums it up. Upsets happen every season. Detroit beat Miami, Cleveland beat New England, Buffalo had the Ravens and Steelers in overtime. How can anyone really say that Detroit is a good team when they have won 8 games in two years and still had a worse record than Miami even after beating them. Sure they might be on a slow climb up, but they still suck. I highly doubt Detroit is going to be in the playoff race.

Though the whole point wasn't about comparing the talent level of the Lions and Dolphins. It was how even the worse teams in the league have better fan support than the Dolphins. Even when the Lions are at their worst the fans still support them and find optimism in a new year. The Dolphins can have a home playoff game and still struggle for fan support. That is the problem.

The Lions had games blacked out when they were terrible. The Lions record last year was not indicative of the caliber of their team. All the hype around them is based on the assumption that Stafford will finally stay healthy for a full season. In case you haven't noticed, whenever he's been healthy, he's looked really good. Many people also project them to have the best D-line in the league this year. And they're only going to get better going forward. They've got their QB, so they can continue to build the rest of the team around him. The Lions have a bright future and legitimate reason for hope, the Dolphins don't.

You have a very good defense, but you're wasting these years on Henne.

We just don't believe Quarterbacks are essential to a winning product. Talk about frustrating. Aren't these guys supposed to be professionals at what they do?

People are pessimistic because the Dolphins absolutely refuse to draft a quarterback in the first round, for um, 26 years.

The point is.... you can have all the talent in the world, if you have no QB, you're not going to be successful in this league.

While I agree with what your saying I'd use the Jets as a perfect example that with good coaching, a very good o-line and a very good defense you can find success in this league without a good QB.

Can you picture how well they would have been had they had a good QB?

It's because of them that I hold out hope for Henne. Because we have a good defense. If we can just get a few breaks and not have those back breaking mistakes or bounces go wrong against us.

Sanchez has proven to be a winner in this league. As much as I hate the Jets, I'll give him that. He's a good QB, just not great.

Unless we are an AFC title game type team, id rather go 0-16. mediocrity (6/10-9/7 type seasons) has gotten us nothing and will keep us dwindling in no mans land.

I dont want one magical 10-6 playoff run to get blasted by the Ravens or Steelers. I want sustained success, year in and year out, a perennial playoff team/superbowl contender like the Pats, Steelers, and Colts of the world.

It dont matter how good your D is if you dont have a QB. This defense isnt good enough to carry a team throughout the season and a playoff run with this putrid offense. Just like the Wanny years, that formula doesnt work.

For as good as Pittsburgh is on defense, they can score from anywhere on the field. As great as Baltimore's D has been over the last 10 years, their lack of offense has held them back. They won 11 years ago but the NFL wasnt the offensive league then even that it is now.

Id rather have an upper echelon offense and a decent/solid defense that will make plays here and there and do enough to hinder the opponent from going ape ****. Im tired of trying to rely on just a good defense with no offense. This franchise has tried that for the last decade and it has brought nothing but failure and a churning of coaching staffs and front offices.

Every team misses but at least they TRY. We haven't even tried to draft a QB in round 1 since 1983!!!!!

Are you kidding me?!??! Because of that we've missed out on Ryan, Freeman, McCoy and Mallett just in the last 4 years under Ireland. Until we get a GM who gets it - who has the balls and brains to draft QBs early and often until we get our franchise guy - then it's tough to keep asking Dolfans to fist pump for FGs.

please, stop with the "no qb since 83 BS. We didnt friggen need one till Dan retired - when was that, 1999. So, it's really been 12 years since we really needed a qb, and you cannot say that the franchise hasnt looked for one. We have had 15 different starters since 99. 4 of them had careers that were decent, its just a shame that all bar one - Chad P - didnt continue to play well in Miami.

2000.

...and Wannstedt pushed him out. He would've played one more year. It could've been the year we finally transitioned over...but Wannstedt couldn't wait to put in Jay.

EDIT: I am pretty sure that due to pride he's said lately that no one pushed him out yadda yadda yadda. But I remember it all like yesterday. He didnt want to be a back up and the way Wanny was talking, he wanted a QB 'competition'...which everyone knew meant he was going to bring someone else in and make him the starter and Dan the backup.

I will always hate Wanny and JJ for the way they tossed aside the best dolphin player of all time. You cut dan marino to sign Jay friggin Fielder I mean really

When it comes to QB's, the football gods haven't been kind to Miami since Marino.

Burning through head coaches and GM's ever couple of years hasn't helped much either. Franchise instability is a big reason why the Dolphins are in a constant state of rebuilding.
