Wheeler out, Turner Doubtful

Dolphins linebacker Philip Wheeler out Sunday vs. New England

http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachp...ker-philip-wheeler-out-sunday-vs-new-england/

Dolphins starting strongside linebacker Philip Wheeler has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against New England with a right thumb injury.Wheeler participated in practice this week but he was limited with his thumb in a cast.
Second-year linebacker Jelani Jenkins is the most likely player to replace Wheeler in the starting lineup. Undrafted rookie Chris McCain should also see time in Wheeler’s spot.
Wheeler struggled last year and was the NFL’s worst-rated outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense by Pro Football Focus. The Dolphins shuffled their linebackers around this season, moving Wheeler from weakside to strongside, where he had his most success with Oakland.
Koa Misi will start his first game as Miami’s middle linebacker. He replaces Dannell Ellerbe, who was moved the weakside. Misi started at strongside last year and was the Dolphins’ only starting linebacker to have a positive PFF grade.
Center Mike Pouncey (hip), linebacker Jordan Tripp (chest) and defensive end Terrence Fede (knee) were ruled out earlier in the week.
Billy Turner, Miami’s backup left guard, is listed as doubtful (foot).
McCain (hip), safety Walt Aikens (hand), running back Knowshon Moreno (knee), defensive end Derrick Shelby (illness), kicker Caleb Sturgis (right groin) and cornerback Jamar Taylor (hip) are all listed as probable.
For New England, quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski are both listed as questionable but they are expected to play.

Hopefully he'll never get his starting job back.

Gronkowski isnt in football shape. I suspect he will be more of a decoy and won't be the 1st option on most plays. BB will limit the number of plays he's involved in unless he is torching our defense.
I dont expect him to be involved much in the running game either, as BB will want to reduce his risk of injury and doesnt want him at the bottom of a pileup. Therefore, when he's in the game I expect the Pats to pass. This may make their offense a little more predictable.

well ****. On the bright side, I don't have to see Wheeler, on the not so bright side we get to see an average and inexperienced LBer get taken advantage of by Brady. I guess he can't be any worse.

This is a blessing in disguise. If McCain gets serious burn and flashes a lot we could see the end of the Wheeler era nothing like baptism by fire

I know people are acting like this is great news, but the problem is that we don't really have anyone after Wheeler to step up and fill the void. McCain isn't ready.

I predict a very long day for Jelani Jenkins.

Gronkowski is going to destroy us ugh. 100+ yards and 2 TDs is my prediction. I still think we can very much win but we haven't been able to cover TE's in my lifetime.

I dont think so. I doubt he's going to play very much. He will probably be in for 3rd downs and in the redzone though. So, he may get those 2 TDs. But I dont think his yardage will be up there.

Wheeler was the worst or 2nd to worst linebacker in the entire NFL last year. You can't get worse than that.

Gronk Hosting Party at Miami Club Saturday Night
By Willie Beamen · On September 5, 2014
The Dolphins host the Patriots in Sunday’s opener and Rob Gronkowski is taking advantage of his environment Saturday night, hosting “Gronk Bash” at Cameo Nightclub on South Beach despite a 1:00 p.m. kickoff the following afternoon.

Bill Belichick might have a heart attack.

Cameo is the same spot where the alleged Pouncey brother beatdown took place. Gronk might play for New England, but the superstar tight end’s soul belongs in Miami.

They will target whoever replaces him now

Good, hope it's McCain, we will find out how successful he really can be. Trial by fire, if he is even a smidgen as good as we think he is, Wheeler when healed will be coming back to a backup role, if not traded.

I'm concerned that the guy backing up the 2nd to worst starting linebacker in the NFL is even worse.

*Puts on Aqua and Orange Shades*

It's happened before, where a mediocre starter goes out with an injury and a young rookie is thrust into the spotlight. Only to have the rookie exceed all expectations and secure the starting position for years to come. Please Dolphins gods let this happen. Whether it be Jenkins or McCain, let it click and let it happen quickly. Amen

Gronk is not going to beat anyone, don't believe what the Pats propaganda crew is throwing out there, Gronk is not really ready, and he will be more decoy, then difference maker.
