When all is said and done, will Jeff Ireland go down as the worst ever gm in Miami?

what free agent signings? you mean Dansby? he was the best guy on the market, what a freaking genius Irish is, give me a break...you mustve defended Mueller and Speilman too when they were tearing this franchise a new one...the Saints were going to cut Bush, not really a hard trade to pull off...

this guy has made it so that NO ONE wants any part of the Miami Dolphins...we bring in Marshall, and what do we give him at QB, Chad Henne, and Matt Moore??...joke...every offseason is the same song and dance...

his drafting of Jared Odrick, Koa Misi, and trading up for Daniel Thomas have really made a difference...Don Shula and Dan Marino would be rolling in their graves...

I am so glad we have a psychic scout on the board. You should apply for Irelands job. I notice you left out the decent job he did with the free agent signings i mentioned and what turned out to be a decent trade with bush. thats okay. i understand you have to be so much smarter than ireland. this whole sky is falling mentality on this board is so frustrating that im writing to defend a guy i dont really like. just relax and let it play out. if you think he is matt millen go talk to a lions fan. they will assure you that ireland is better. im not saying he is good, but my god there have been worse.

I've been as positive as anyone, but there is absolutely no excuse for this trade. It's a terrible decision. We got low-balled for our only good receiver. It's as if Ireland is deliberately running this team into the ground.

meanwhile, the Bills are going all out to fill WEAKNESSES by putting the full court press on Mario Williams and Robert Meachem...we're going to have to get used to the cellar for the while my friends...while other teams fill glaring needs...we continue to manufacture needs for ourselves...ladies and gents, Jeff Ireland!

I'm sorry to say this, but just about no one could compete with Shula's ineptitude over a prolonged period of time, drafting guys in the first and second-rounds like Mike Charles, Jackie Shipp, Jay Brophy, Danny Knight, Dewey Forte, Lorenzo Hampton, Rick F-ing Graf, Scott Schwedes (a second round pick!), Eric Kumerow, Sammie Smith!, Eddie "Earthquake" Blake, Aubrey Beavers, Billy Milner, Andrew Greene, just absolutely awful. I remember Shula giving Anthony Carter away for nothing after stealing him in the 12th round. Just imagine Marino throwing to Duper, Clayton and Carter! We've had bad GMs, but Shula was arguably the worst. If not for Marino it's hard to tell how bad the Fins would have been going on a quarter-century.

I rarely post but I had to get my 2 cents in on this one. Ireland is a horrible GM but not the worst in Dolphin history.
That has to go to Wanny. Wanny was the worst in NFL history IMO. I know Wanny was head coach and Speilman was GM
but Wanny had final say on personnel and I'm not sure Speilman was with Wanny from the start (2000). Ireland may be
second worst in NFL history. The whole prostitute question proved to me that he was incompetant.

Take a look at the Dolphins draft history since 2000. Wanny is the reason we have fallen so far so quickly.
Very few of Wanny/Speilman's picks are even still in the league.

Ireland is just bad. He's not legendary bad.

It's easy to see how we're in the position we're currently in though. We continue to draft ham and eggers in a steak world.

Put it this way, Ireland makes me miss the Wanny/Spielman Era.
Chubbs

They were both bad.. Wanny was a better HC than Sparano and prior to this offseason IMO Ireland was better than Speilman, however that is changing quickly. Irelands first year as a GM, without help, is sinking like the titanic- QUICK

He is a good GM. Philbin is implementing the Green Bay Model which is build by the draft and detailed execution is a must and also Team comes first. Marshall does not fit that model. He fits the Jay Cutler model who by the way was thrown out of Denver and was too wimpy to limp back on the field during the playoffs and lead his team to vistory.

As to the the worth of 2 3rd round draft picks let me pose the following question: What round did Denver draft Marshall out of UCF? Hint: It was not the first or second round.

Who cares where he was drafted? It only matters what we paid for him, what we got back for him, and what we lost from not having him next year. I can't believe people are trying to rationalize this decision. Does Ireland have paid fluffers on FinHeaven?
