When Pouncey returns, do we need him more at Guard or Center?

He is a center,

He is an interior lineman and if he helps more as a guard you play him as a guard. At the current moment I think he helps more as a guard if only because Samson can snap the ball without looking at the QB. Something Hernandez's buddy cannot do.

Wasn't he a guard in college? And as far as the first page argument goes, not everyone comes to this site every day. I can't blame him for not knowing that a question has been asked before

Satele is not our weak link....our guards are....it is obvious.

Satele plays much better in our zone blocking scheme.

Thank you for the civility and insight. But yeah lot of douchy posters/trolls here now. "Finheaven" or "Finhell?" People seem to forget what "forum" means and treat it instead as a psuedo "news flash." I just might have to consider your suggestion. Much thanks.
It all good brother. Sometimes we don't always think about the other person on the other side. Have a great weekend!

I think it is funny - all of the "only a center" believers probably should read a bit of this weeks article from the Jackson dude at the Miami Herald. He reported too that Pouncey was practicing a bunch at guard... nothing worse that living with blinders on.

I think we are going to see Pouncey at guard...Satele is probable.

Out of Pouncey's own mouth....his natural position is guard.

The catch there is that Satele has never played another position on the line besides center. Pouncey has played guard and would be an immediate upgrade to RG where he played at UF. The, "he's a center", concrete train of thought doesn't make a lot of sense when you factor in all the benefits that moving Pouncey to guard provides. It would be a smart move considering we would have 4 positions of strength on the O-line instead of sending Satele to the bench and still leaving holes at both guard positions.

In a faint comparison, despite having Gibson and drafting Landry, no one was pissed off when we heard the Wallace was going to be moved around in Lazor's new offense and would play some snaps in the slot position. Similar situation though in that you want to play to your strengths and to what gives you the best chance to put your best players on the field.

I also think moving Pouncey to guard takes even more pressure off of Satele at C. Satele should be able to freelance in more situations to find the unblocked rusher or help chip with the guards. Satele would get better by simply not having to help with weak link at RG. RG would be locked down with Pouncey. As long as Satele can contain his rusher we win in both positions.

I would like to think Turner makes the whole conversation moot at some point by manning RG while Pouncey slides back to C. But right now, Pouncey at RG gives us the best 5 on the field.

I don't get the logic that believes that because Pouncey is a good center, then its impossible for him to play at just as high of a level at guard. Its not like we are moving him to LT or RB. The same questions swirled around whether Clay was FB or a TE. People claimed that he is strictly a TE when the truth was he could do both, or either effectively.

Lets hope that no matter what we do with the line, it isn't a focus after the game.

Interestingly, Pouncey today said "guard is my natural position. I was forced to play center when I got drafted here." And you'll remember I wrote in my column a couple of weeks ago that Pouncey would be more than open to the move. The Pro Bowl center said he'd become a Pro Bowl guard if he were moved.

Out of his own mouth.....can we finally dismiss the notion that center is his best and highest and only purpose?
