Where Are The Bills Better Than The Dolphins?

More On the Week One surprise upset consensus - or not:

As I study the strategy behind how we beat the Patriots, I become less concerned about defenses in general. The tools available within Lazor's offense for ensuring an advantage for the offense are significant. It puts significant pressure upon the QB to make the correct decision, but it is very hard for the defense to keep its standard numerical advantage.

Our offensive line might fail to win enough of the battles, but we are not going to see a repeat of the impossible situations we had last year. I am confident that the defense will feel the pressure to get into an alignment that minimizes the offenses advantages. It is clear that the Patriots defense failed to choose the correct alignment frequently. The Patriots actually ended up with five in the box when we went stacked receivers on both sides. You will lose that every time. No wonder Moreno racked up 15 yards on that play. That is a big mental mistake, or really poor coaching from the DC.

it seems like buffalo ALWAYS runs the ball down our throat when we play them up there. if they run effectively we're in trouble, thats their biggest advantage in my opinion.

yeah but if we run the ball down their throat they have less opportunity to run it down ours....provided no turnovers. It works both ways now. We have Knowshon. I told everyone weeks ago we were a different team with him.

Thats what confuses me. He has one good game and all of a sudden he's a stud?

The Bills d gave up 29 first downs to the bears last week which is just horrible.. We only gave 20 up to Brady, so I would say our d is better.

That is because you have fallen into the trap of believing that his good performance in Denver was because of Manning. He has 18 good performances at least.

I am amazed at the great insights some people have after just one game. Truly, if the NFL would just read everything here, we could stop playing games and set up for the playoffs.

Yeah, I'll be relieved when we've played a handful of games so I don't have to read endless comparisons of only the most recent game that each team played. This thread has become comical in that regard.

I agree with j-off-her-doll that Miami has more margin for error. That was going to be my theme. It might not be pretty but I could see the Dolphins finding a way to win by a margin, even if by an accident, like the Cleveland opener last year. That's primarily because Manuel, like Weeden, simply doesn't figure to put up many touchdowns. Buffalo will be the more motivated and energized team at the outset but if it doesn't transfer to points on the scoreboard then the Dolphins shake it off and could sting.

One way Buffalo might create points is if the Dolphins can't handle the read option. Buffalo runs considerably more true option plays than Miami does. Just because you run a version doesn't mean you can stop it. I'm still not a big believer in Mitchell. I could see him blindly upfield and running himself smack out of the play, allowing a chunk gain up the middle.

I don't pay attention to unit comparisons but I really like Buffalo's receivers more than most posters in this thread. The Dolphins have a bunch of receivers who do certain things well but none are the total package.

QB- No

RB- Yes

TE- No

WR- Toss up

OL- Yes

Defense

DL- Yes

LB- Normally a toss up but with your injuries, Yes

Safety- Toss Up

CB- No
I think that's a fair assessment. Although, I think running back and offensive line could go to the Dolphins with all the positive changes Miami has made at those positions. But, it's early to say for sure. I think, potentially, Buffalo has more dynamic players at wide receiver.

Yeah, I'd have the RB debate before the DL debate. I'd give the Bills an overall D advantage and the Fins an overall O advantage.

It's simply going to be a matter of which team executes and plays to their strengths better.
