Where Are You Ronnie Brown???....

Hell if Ronnie wants 20 million in guaranteed bonus money, I don't care if he ever signs. Its crazy how a rookie back will make more money than established players like Shaun Alexander and Edgerrin James. The NFL needs a CBA like the NBA where there is basically a scale for rookies. I truly wish we would have traded the pick and been able to spend less of our cap on one draft pick.

Yeah, well, we've got a bit of leverage too. We could go without him and let him see how much value he can get next year as a FA following a year out of FB without all the media attention. That's a pretty strong incentive as well.
would ronnie brown become a free agent after the season? I thought that he could re-enter the draft.
What would happen to ronnie if he doesn't sign a contract this season? Do the dolphins hold his rights?

He would go back in draft and lose money because he would be a lower pick based on no football for whole year.

are you suggesting that we simply throw away the number two pick in the draft... with no compensation?

Ya know, I just threw that comment out there without thinking. I really don't know, but it *seems* like they can re-enter the draft. Not sure on that though.

No, but it is a bargaining tool.

I doubt that would scare an agent tho. Theyre not going to believe wed let him go for nothing.

how about this... Trade brown for a first rounder next year. Give half of his would be bonus to Ty Law... We get by on Harris/Gordon/Minor first four games, then Ricky comes back... Then we established value for Ricky over the rest of the season, then at seasons end we trade him(will never forgive him for what he did) for consistent QB (Billy Volek TENN). Going into next years draft we will need a RB(D. Williams-Memphis, Bush-USC, Peterson-OK).... But we will have an est QB and Ty Law on top of what we already have... It sounds a little quirky but makes excellent sense! But It will never happen! I'm just frustrated that the 1st pick signs and then a lower pick RB signs and Brown still isn't signed. We know he gets what the 2nd pick last year gets pluss a moderate increase... If he wants $22 mill SB give it to him over more years. That way the cap hit will be spread out over the length of contract...

he will sign by wednesday which means plenty of ricky in the hall of fame game.
