Where do ya see the Potential in AJ??

If you look at things objectively, you will see that it is. You obviously have some personal grudge against Feeley.

Not at all, I just don't see why we have to go 4 - 12 to test another career backup.

From what I've seen of AJ he appears to be destined as a backup in this league. Yes, he does make the occasional great throw, great read, or even scamble for those extra yards....but as usual with backups, the consistency is definitely not there.

A lot of this might be attributed to him being thrown to the wolves last year but with little has Saban has mentioned him and the bad practices (granted it's only been as few) he's had so far .....I can easily see him riding the bench for some time.

Scramble? Lol

I remember seeing Hasselbech all the way back when he was in Green Bay. In the preseason he was perfect. He played extremely well, granted it was the preseason, but Feeley has NEVER even come remotely close to looking that good.

I think we have to give Feeley 'some' credit, the recievers didn't exactly play great for him when he was playing. IMHO - Our starting QB next year is not on our roster right now.

I agree. We'll have someone else in here next year.

Question: Where do ya see the Potential in AJ?
Answer: he has an arm and acc.

You answered your own question.

The TD throw to Thompson against the Pats. The TD throw after dislocating his finger, and others like it give people reason to be optimistic. He has also shown toughness. He has the physical tools to be a starting QB.

Feeley all the way, Gus is an idiot. Anyone that headbutts something not realizing its CONCRETE, is not someone I want to LEAD my team. Feeley had injuries last year because the O line was busier trying to block each other, than block the pass rush.. I think feeley will have a chance to really show what he has with this wide-open offense we are going to be running. Feeley did improve at the end of the year before he sat out at the end of the year

we must stop fooling around and draft a QB

Well over the last 3 games of the year he only threw 1 pick in over 113 passes which should be a sign of some maturation plus won 2 of final three games including a win vs Super Bowl Champ New England. So if that is not potential what is is it. We were in all these games and came very close to beating Denver at Denver. Give this guy some protection with a decent line because nobody could succeed with the way the line played last year and not a decent back to take pressure off him. If people wanna go with Gus that is an opinion but Gus has never been or ever will be anything special. Somehow went to Pro Bowl with a 70 something rating. If Feeley can improve on the way he played at end of year or even just play as well as he did that has to show some potential much more than Frerotte has because its no coincidence that nobody tried to sign him as thier starter.

The rating was 82 but good try at making it look worse.

I personally like Feeley, I like that he showed leadership and a lot of toughness last season. The way I see it, we're not really going anywhere this season except developing our players, so we might as well play Feeley and see if the extra year helps him come into his own.

He made poor decision last year because th o-line collapejs in under 3 seconds and he had to throw the ball quickly

We need a young guy at QB that Saban can develop. Either we need to suffer through this year and then draft one, or we need to trade next year's pick to a team this year for one. If we want to go the trade route, we might be able to convince San Diego to trade us Rivers. Then we would be able to develop him this year and be decent next year.

Fortunately, most rational peolple aren't swayed by one positive or negative event.
The fact is that NO QB in this league would have had success in this offense
QB's succeed when they are well coached (he wasn't), have a good offensive coordinator (he didn't) and have some decent talent around them (he didn't).
You get into arguments like this because you make premature and outlandish comments.
No one is drooling over Feeley. Most people, however, are fair minded and recognize that the problems with the QB position last year went way beyond Feeley.
He was set to fail by wanny

i see the potential in his arm. He's got a cannon.

That's one of the least important things for an NFL QB. I remember going to the Indianapolis combine and sitting among the NFL scouts up in the stands as they ragged on some ex-scout who was always swayed by the "cannon arm". You could find a thousand guys tending bar and working at construction sites in every major city in the US who have strong arms. Do they all have potential? What you look for is a feel for the game. An anticipation of where the open receiver should be and the sense to know when to use touch. You could see that even when the rest of the team sucks. The QB with feel will naturally turn their head to where the holes in D should develop. They may not be able to get the ball there b/c the line collapsed or the receiver falls down or whatever, but you can tell they knew where to go. AJ didn't show that. When pressure came he was inevitably looking the wrong way.

And the last three games of the season AJ threw fewer ints. but he took 10 sacks. All he did was trade the desperation toss into a crowd for tucking the ball and going into a fetal position. This improves your stats, but doesn't denote potential.

Danny Boy also has stated many times that a cannon arm isn't important, he stresses ACCURACY as the key.

and jlfin, what relation are you to Feeley? your posts are exactly like a former Dolphin player's dad who use to visit here and reply to his son's threads.
