Every time a discussion is brought up about the Miami Dolphins' quarterback situation, the last name usually mentioned is last season's starter: Matt Moore.

The forgotten quarterback went 6-3 in his final nine games and set career highs in passing yards (2,497) and touchdowns (16). Yet, every time you see the Dolphins, the team’s brass is talking about finding Moore’s replacement and upgrading at the position.

Here is Miami general manager Jeff Ireland thoughts on Moore from the NFL combine:
"I talked to him the other day, asked him where he’s at. He’s doing good. He’s out in California. Just wanted to say hello. He fits here. We’re glad to have Matt Moore on our roster. Last nine games we went 6-3, that’s pretty good. We’ve got to utilize his strengths. He needs to clean up his footwork and clean up his reads. That’s what the staff is going to do -- he’s going to be a big part of our team."
Moore is on the line of being a very good backup but not a franchise quarterback. Miami is setting its goals high to build a championship team over the next few years. Moore can win enough games to be competitive, but he's not the right starting quarterback to win the Dolphins a Super Bowl.

I like Moore. He's got some guts. I would think that he would be an exceptional back-up. If we sign Flynn he could provide competition, and would be some decent insurance against him being a bust. He would be nice insurance for Peyton Manning and if we draft a rook, he could be a nice "bridge the gap" kinda guy. I hope we keep him.

We absolutely need Matt Moore. Right now, he is the only servicable QB we have on our roster. Obviously, that should change either through FA or the draft, but he is an average starting QB in the NFL, or possibly the best back-up QB in the NFL. We have him signed cheap for next season, and he is far more valuable to us than anything we could get for him in a trade.

At 202lbs I think he can fit on the bench. This isn't Rex Ryan we're talking about.

We need to get rid of him. He will never be our starter, he's just wasting a QB roster spot that we need for someone who could really be our starter in the future.

I think he can be a winning QB. He took the same offense that Henne sputtered in and made it exciting, as well as scoring more points.
If we end up with Moore starting(if all else fails) I can live with that until we can groom a replacement.

He's the only QB on the roster with game experience. He's on the last year of his deal with a new regime taking over. He's got a spot on this team next year, but i don't expect to him to be a Dolphin after 2012.

he fits in as a back up....a good back up imo but not a starter...we have options this year and I hope we used those at last.

Ozzy rules!!

Considering he was the 2nd best QB in the division for more than half last season and one of the higher ranked long ball passers in the league, I'd say unless it's Peyton who comes in, he deserves a fair shake during TC to compete for the starting job, and that includes against Flynn who at this point has as much chance of becoming a zero as he does a hero. And let the chips fall where they may.
