Which position holds the biggest BUST

QB's they are depended on far more than RB's

Well lets set the record straight.

William Green, it was not his fault that he was a bust. You can't even find a Browns 1st or 2nd round pick that wasn't a bust. I am serious. I made a thread about this.

Ki-Jana Carter, it is not that fair to label this guy a bust. He blew out his knee before ever playing and never recovered.

QB easily holds the most busts. Such a hard position to scout for. What makes a good QB.
Is it his arm. Dan Marino
Is it his competitive spirit. Brett Farve
Is it his athleticism. John Elway
Is it his knowledge. Peyton Manning
Or is it simply his ability to win. Joe Montana

Fact is all these guys were so different and all of them came out so different.
Marino was not impressive in the brains department. He apparently scored low on wonderlic tests and was never known to be very studious. But he had one hell of an arm. But then so did Ryan Leaf and a million other QBs to come and go.

On the other hand Montana was not supposed to have an arm but had a great work ethic. He never had the physical gift but he was a winner.

John Elway had everything, but he still could not win. I don't count the two last superbowls he had. He could not win until he had a stacked team with a dominating runnign game. Not to mention good old John was known to have an attitude problem coming into the league. Ryan Leaf is often cited for failing because of his attitude. Then what was different between these two.

Bottom line is QBs are so hard to judge. You just never know what you are getting. Sometimes its brain, sometimes it skill, sometimes its luck.

btw, Marino is the best :)

I'm going to go with QB, because a mediocre RB can still look very good behind a great o-line, while a QB requires several intangibles on his side in the same situation.

I say Qb because they hold such a high responsibility that it is a harder transition to another level than any other position. Even if a RB is not a genius, he stands a chance, although being able to read a defense and the blocks helps. But a QB can be a physically perfect QB and still suffer if he cannot make all of the different kinds of reads (receiver routes, blitzes, blocks in the pocket, time to hold on to the ball, when to throw it away, courage, handling pressure, etc.) Then he also has to inspire leadership most times. There's just so much for a QB to have and if he doesn't have it all, he can really have a hard time living up to his college reputation.

Great question btw.

That place is awesome.

You are talking about the one in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, right? It's right outside of Gatlinburg.

It's absolutely amazing during Christmas time.

don't forget the broncos cheated the salary cap and were penalized for it. that never enters the discussions. i think they should be forced to put asterisks beside their wins, but i'm a little harsh.

I was just wondering since we are all here talking about Ronnie and what the dolphins should be paying him. Which position holds the biggets bust when coming from college ranks to the pro level.
For example

Ryan Leaf - Top notch college QB = Pro Bust
Kijana Carter - Top notch college RB = pro Bust

My gut feeling is RB
What do you guys / gals think
(this does not apply to players who ended there career with injury)

Carter was a bust because of injury...Leaf was a bust because of attitude and talent...big difference...

There is a much more inherent risk in a QB going from the college ranks to the pros...the game is so different and the competition is much greater. As a rb, you have to be concerned with your plays, your blocks, your route (if any) and your running lanes. As a QB, you have to be concerned with EVERY other offensive players responsibilities, as well as your own...the spotlight is on you and you alone...

Yeah that's the one. I went there over spring break this past year. It's a really nice place year round.

There also are a lot of Kickers and Punters who look great in college and then suck or get cut in the pros. And HEYYYY leave Dolly alone....she's looking good for an old lady!!! (_)(_)

Dollyland or Dollyworld or something. I saw it on the travel channel, it looked pretty cool.
