Which post-Shula "genius" hurt us the most?

Jeff Ireland is the winner hands down. During Pornstache's reign, at least we were winning games.
Ireland has squandered the top picks that should have rebuilt this franchise by now. He is the reason we have Tannehill, no offensive line, and no replacements for Ricky, Ronnie, Marshall.
I terms of total embarrassment, Cam Cameroon come a close second.

There is reason I said when Parcells left we shouldve fired Ireland and Sparano. So long as anything Ireland touched is still with this franchise(including Philbin and Tannehill), the stench of tuna remains.

You can throw in Aponte as well. This team needs to be purged of Parcels effluent.
 
I'd like to give it to Wanny for starting this misery, but Jeff Ireland was the stupidest pos to ever be given the keys to our beloved franchise. And his reign of dumbassery went on way, way too long. So he's getting my vote.
 
My vote would go to Wayne for one reason only.
In 2004/2005 he looked for a new GM. A master (Ron Wolf) told him to get that young kid from Seattle. He used to work with him in Green Bay and is currently the VP of football operations in Seattle: Ted Thompson.

Instead we got Saban as coach and GM, Ronny Brown instead of Rodgers and years of instability which brought us the return of Spielman, then Ireland and all the different coaches coming along with them.

And Ted Thompson? Since 2005 he missed the payoffs twice (incl his first year), made the playoffs 6 times and a Superbowl.

The offeason in 2005 was the turn we completely missed.

Well since Bill Parcels hired Jeff Ireland and the filth that followed, I guess I'll say him. Parcells ruined this franchise for the past decade. Jimmy Johnson forced Marino into retirement, IMO so he's a second runner up.

We have a winner. These are my exact thoughts.

Keep in mind When Jimmy was here stories came out about him "not putting in time", he was thought of as being more interested in fishing and social events rather than coaching. He wasn't a detail oriented coach, as in film study and the such. I think that set a path that the Dolphins kept for years after.

Tuna as a ass too. Worthless lard ass.
 
Cam Cameron: Was a 1 year coaching nightmare, but as well as not helping, he also did not hurt the growth of the team.

Jeff Ireland: Did slow down the the growth of the team, but he did have some success no matter how small.

Jimmy Johnson: Was able to finally get us a good defense, including drafting two of the best D-players we have had in a long time.

Bill Parcells: In his little time with Miami, was severely useless, and even forced Ireland into even worse decisions then normal.

Joe Philbin: The Bok is still open on him, but so far at least his team has show progress.

Nick Saban: He was horrible drafting college players (What you think he would know), and the only true contrabution he made for the team was teach his players how to quit on a team.

Tony Sparano: Even though he was a horrible game day coach, teams did play tough for him.

Rick Spielman: Was not great for us, but his drafts were not the worse of the last 15 years.

Dave Wannstedt: Inconsistant HC, bad talent evaluator, but at least continued to get Miami in playoffs.

*Basically of all of them, the two people that hurt the progress of the team the most has to be Saban and Parcells, both were were disasters building the Dolphins, and both left thier biggest mark as quiters in Miami, but at least Parcells left as man, and told everyone he was leaving, not sneaked away like a little 5 year old as Saban did.
 
Cam: He was a bad hire, but it came down to him, Jim Mora Jr., or Mike Shula. He didn't do much long-term damage. Jimmy: He messed up when he traded that pick that could've been Randy Moss. JJ did build us a defense though. Wannstedt: Huizenga's should've never let him take over, but at least we were relevant in those days. Saban: I thought he was a good coach but he did draft horribly. You can't blame him for the Brees debacle. Blame the team doctors. Parcells: The problem was that he was never all in. He let Ireland handle the Pat White draft. He should have made all decisions. Huizenga: At least he could close a deal with a big name. Ross: Imo, he has been the biggest problem. Failing to fire Sporano, Ireland and Philbin has set us back a decade. In his defense, he is paying for the stadium renovations and he brought Dan back into the fold. However, the missed opportunities with Harbaugh and Peyton combined with the fact that he refuses to clean house is why he gets my vote.
 
As much as we dislike JJ and Wanstach, we were relevant and playing hard. It must be between Saban and Parcells...
 
In terms of full control over the franchise it was Wanny as he should never have gotten full control. Also take into account he had a team that was very good defensively but he had no belief in offense.

Parcells also had an outdated way of thinking.
 
For all the talk about how guys like Saban can't hack it in the NFL, I got news for you...

...the Miami Dolphins can't hack it in the NFL.

The only reason they're still in it is because the league can't kick 'em out and the ACC probably wouldn't vote 'em in anyway. They already have a non-competitive team down there.

Anybody that blames any of these coaches for leaving just isn't paying attention to what matters. There's just better things to do. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea for all of you to follow suit..
