Who are the top 5 Db's in the draft

That Actually all depends on who you ask.

My top 5 are
1. Michael Huff - Never fall to us Strengths: He has adequate height and is strong for his size. He possesses exceptional speed, especially for his size. He is a very good athlete at the safety position. He is versatile and can play a lot of different roles within a defensive scheme. He is heady and instinctive. He's as tough as it gets. Will fill hard vs. the run and does a good job getting through traffic. Has great range in run support and shows very good closing burst. He is a solid open-field tackler and packs a punch at the POA for a smaller DS. He has adequate size but plays a lot bigger than his measurables would indicate. He has become a punishing sideline-to-sideline run stopper. He has above average range and can continue to improve as he gets better adjusted to playing in so much space. He takes good angles to the ball and shows good closing quickness in coverage. Has above average man-to-man coverage skills for a DS. Has adequate ball skills. Will bat down a lot of passes and does a good job of fighting for the jump ball. He has great physical tools, mental makeup and tackling skills as a future special team's player in the NFL.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal bulk as an NFL safety. Plays like a strong safety but will struggle to match up in the box at the NFL level. Needs to improve his body mass and lower body strength. He has decent but not great ball skills. Still needs to improve his recognition skills in deep coverage. Will be a bit late to diagnose every once in a while and will struggle to make up for it in the NFL like he does in college.
2. Jimmy Williams - Strengths: Has rare size/speed combination. A versatile prospect with experience at DC and FS. He is an ideal fit as a press cover corner in a man-to-man scheme. He is tall, has long arms and is strong for the position. He does a good job of pressing WRs at the LOS and taking them out of their routes. He is surprisingly fluid for such a tall DC. Shows the quickness, hips and top-end speed to turn and run with any WR in the NFL if he opens up in time. He shows very good closing burst when the ball is in the air. He is physical and challenges the jump ball. His size gives him a big advantage in the red zone. He has developed excellent ball skills and is a playmaker with the ball in his hands. He fills hard vs. the run and has outstanding potential as a run support DC. He is an aggressive player who will throw his body around and mix it up. He flashes some upside when turned loose on the blitz. Also has experience returning punts.

Weaknesses: Comes off as arrogant and seems to run a lot of people the wrong way. His effort is too streaky. Still has work to do in terms of his consistency in coverage. Will gamble too much and won't get away with it as easily in the NFL. His recognition skills and awareness must improve. Will get caught peeking in the backfield at times and will leave himself vulnerable. He is much more effective in man-coverage than he is in zone. He seems less comfortable in space and needs to improve his ability to read the QB's eyes. Lacks ideal instincts and discipline in zone coverage. Plays out of control at times and will miss too many tackles.
3. Tye Hill - Strengths: Is a track star turned DC. Has blazing speed and is the fastest DC in this class. He has extremely fluid hips. Can turn and run vertically with any WR in the NFL. Is extremely quick in his back pedal. He has explosive closing burst and can make up a lot of ground when the ball is in the air. Shows very quick feet and good lateral movement skills. He has good leaping ability (39-inch vertical) and will challenge for the jump ball. Is tough for his size. Won't back down from a challenge. His ball skills continue to improve. He's doing a better job of finding the ball in the air and adjusting to it. Is also a threat on the return if he gets daylight. He will fill hard vs. the run. Lacks size but has decent strength and is a fundamentally sound tackler.

Weaknesses: Lacks great experience at the position. Has made huge strides in terms of technique and recognition skills but still is too inconsistent and needs more polish. He is undersized. Lacks height and bulk. Has developed into a good run-support DC, but will occasionally get run over by bigger backs. He will have trouble matching up against bigger WR's in the NFL and may never be more than a slot-corner, as a result.
4. Jonathan Joseph - Strengths: A fast-rising prospect with explosive speed. Is a fluid athlete with very good initial quickness and COD skills. He shows the ability to turn-and-run without losing much in transition. Is quick out of his pedal and shows good closing burst. Is able to make up a lot of ground when the ball is in the air. He shows good leaping ability and will challenge for the ball in traffic. Possesses natural playmaking instincts and very good ball skills. Is aggressive in run support. Willing and fills hard. Shows adequate strength and is an efficient tackler in space. Has some experience as a return specialist and showed some promise in that area both as a PR and KOR.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal playing experience. Only played one full season at DI-A level. Shows inconsistent technique. Comes out of his pedal too high at times and will get off balance in those instances. Has a tendency to gamble and jump routes prematurely. Looks less comfortable in zone coverage and must improve his overall awareness in that facet. Durability is a concern following broken foot in 2004.
Ko Simpson - Strengths: Possesses good upside. Lacks ideal bulk but has the frame to get bigger. Is a powerful player for his size. He fills hard versus the run and has developed into a solid open field tackler. He flashes some explosive power at the point of attack. Is a ball-hawk with playmaking instincts. Shows adequate range in coverage. Possesses adequate-to-good speed and shows good closing burst to the ball. Shows outstanding ball skills. Has enough quickness and natural athleticism to match up versus bigger receivers one-on-one. Physical and tough. Also has the skills and mentality to contribute covering kicks on special teams.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal playing experience. Is still unpolished in terms of his overall technique and recognition skills. He can be over-aggressive at times and will get caught taking too many false steps vs. play-fake. He needs to play with more discipline. He lacks ideal bulk. Is aggressive and productive in run support but will struggle to get off of blocks as easily in the NFL. Does not possess the size to consistently match up "in the box". Needs to add bulk to his frame and improve his lower body strength.

The top 5 are mine and the Strengths and Weaknesses are from ESPN.

thanks a lot bro

fans from florida putting cromartie into round 1 has changed. he will not be picked in round 1 at all
Well I was at FSU's pro day on Thursday and saw Cromartie run a 4.39. First rounder? Yes sir.

If he had played last year he would easily be the top corner in the draft. With his size, speed, and skill he will be an elite player at the next level.

4.29!!!! WOW draft him now!!!! Saban can teach him to be great in the NFL for those who think he's not ready but a 4.29 you can't teach speed and size.

Sorry that was actually a typo, I fixed it and now its at 4.39, but some people there had him timed at 4.36 and faster.

That is still really fast and with his size and speed he could really be great.

:tantrum:

Ok and you are WRONG!!!! Cromartie WILL go in the first, maybe you missed his Pro Day work out. He ran a 4.37 and 4.39 40's and had a 42 in verticle couple that with the fact that he is already 6'2 1/8 210lbs and is probably the best pure athelete at the CB position and yeah hes not going in the first......:shakeno:

Don't forget Kirby Smart was a long time FSU graduate assistant, later an assistant at LSU with Saban and now the Dolphins safeties coach. He was at pro day, horsing around with all the guys so there is a connection there. Although, with needs at DB, OLB, and DT, I wouldn't complain about the Fins taking Cromartie, Ernie Sims, or Brodrick Bunkley.

There were a lot of NFL coaches at pro day, and every single one of them gave Cromartie a long hard look. He looks like a lock for the mid 1st round if you ask me.

Jason Allen is a steal....

Jason Allen was a projected Top 10 talent in the middle of the college football season before his injury and with his latest numbers he put up at the combine, the injury has not affected him what at all. I have seen Jason Allen play numerous times and a few things about him....

1-NEVER gets beat deep
2-BIG and PHYSICAL corner
3-Versitile and can also slide to Free Saftey
4-Leader type mentality (He could be the leader of the secondary even in
his rookie year)
5-BIG hitter

I don´t know about you but I keep falling in love more and more with jimmy williams. Great speed and size and good ball skills. Thats what I want out of a saftey. I also think we only need a saftey because we got two starting caliber CBs in Poole and Daniels.

I just thought about that again and it may be a good move to move daniels to saftey and draft a corner. but either way I think Daniels is gonna do good

Top 5 are

1. Michael Huff
Can play inside at SS or out at corner, great feet, great tackler, supremely quick, will likely go at 9 to Detroit, but could go to the 49ers if the board falls differently.

2. Tye Hill
Best cover corner in the draft. His lack of height is overplayed. At almost 5-10, he has a 41 inch vertical. Not great hands, but his pass break up average is superb. Has Olympic speed and possesses the vision and awareness to be a fine player. Was personally interviewed by Saban in Mobile.

3. Antonio Cromartie.
Has great speed, great size and the upside is through the roof. The knee injuries will be a concern, but the talent level is off the scale. His short shuttle time was ridiculously quick and displayed the lateral and change of pace awareness that is so crucial. Was taken to dinner by Saban and Mueller. Was significant interest from the Fins at the FSU pro day.

4. Jason Allen
Would be a legitimate top 15 player were it not for the hip. Can play FS or corner, but likely a corner. Has good size, is a good tackler and is arguably the best corner in the draft at syating deep with a receiver.

5. Ashton Youboty
You could throw a blanket over him or Jonathan Joseph or Richard Marshall in here. Joseph is the fastest riser, but some of his athletic numbers are a worry. Marshall is being highly touted as the Patriots pick. Youboty has done all that's asked of him. He has excellent closing speed, good size and can tackle.

Ko Simpson I like a lot. Jimmy Williams has scouts so worried, that he's hard to place. 'Emotionally unstable' were the reports from the Combine.

there is no way that Jimmy Williams is not one of the top 5 cornerbacks!!! He is leaps above some of these players.
