Who are you willing to get rid of for...

We should put Ricky on Special Teams for the year.

Did you not read the post before yours?!?

He always gave it his all. If he comes back he will only come back and work at 110% just like always.

I guess you missed when he admitted that he didn't give his all in 2003. You remember his last year when he was avg. 3.3 yards a carry and missing blocking assignments.

Have you been standing by Ricky when he was stepped on the scale lately? Cause I remember about six weeks ago that he weighed 195 lbs cause of an infection. A healthy dose of anti-biotics, healthy eating and some wieght training could do the trick. Oh and also there is this thing called muscle memory, it helps you regain and retain the muscle mass you have lost.

Well last time I checked Ricky had been out of football for over a year and not doing much but toking up and taking a few classes.

Regaining muscle after losing over 30 lbs of weight over a year or so just doesn't come back over night. I don't care whether or not you think this muscle memory is just going to automatically recall itself and he is back to normal. I think that he is going to need at least a good 6 months to get back in playing shape.

Lets be realistic guys you just don't come back after a year or so and then you are back to normal. I look back at some of the comebacks of professional players. And most of them took time to get back to some semblance of themselves. the one that sticks in my mind even though it is a different sport was when Michael Jordan came back to play basketball with the bulls. It took him quite a while and he wasn't out of shape. because he had been playing baseball.

What I am saying is I think Ricky will not be like he was . Because it is going to take him time to get back to football playing shape.

You're absolutely right............it's extremely childish to think that in 4 months, Ricky will be superman after taking more than a year off. He may not have morphed into a lard azz, but c'mon ..........he was traveling, smokin' weed..........when did he have time to continue with the type of training he was involved in when with us? Common sense tells you none, not to mention he didn't have the resources to do so while roaming planet earth.

Its ironic how our running game was so terrible and this year it should be top 5 in the league. We could use Ricky and Lamar on 1st and 2nd and Let Ronnie be the 3rd down back. It will give him rest and experience while we use Ricky up. Lets be excited for once instead of griping. This could be one the best backfields ever.

Why in the hell would we use a first round draft pick RB to be a 3rd down back.

if anything Ronnie would be the starter since he is the guy to make the big bucks.

You saying that is like when Wanny drafted a certain corner back for depth. You don't draft a guy in early rounds to plan as depth. you draft them to be your future or starter.

I am not saying it can't be done its just very highly unlikely.
And I even wonder if he will play for min salary if thats all we have to pay him? Since he still owes us. Right now all this tells me is that his heart isn't in it for the game. He is out to erase a debt. That to me shows his heart isn't in the right place. because if it was he would swallow whatever pride he has and play for what he can until he proves himself.

...Ricky Williams? I continue to be surprised at the number of fans on this site that can't wait for Ricky to come back to this team. Have any of you really thought this through? Some thoughts to ponder about this move:

1. One of our RB prospects will have to be cut to make room for him. This will be a player with great potential that we will lose to make room for a player that is on the downside of his career.

2. Many of you seem to think Ricky will come back as strong as he used to be...nothing could be further from the truth. He has already had his best season, he will not reach that level again. Expect Ricky (with a full season) to put up average YPC and total yards, and maybe even less.

3. Salary. Ricky will not come for the league minimum. He is going to make good money, so is Ronnie Brown. That is a lot of money for the RB position that could be better spent on some OL or secondary help. Plus, you will be paying him for a maximum of 12 games after his suspension. All I heard about during draft time was value, and how we should discard some of our best players (that aren't head cases and have never quit) so that we could get the best value. How is Ricky Williams a value at this point?

4. Team chemistry. I see many of you think that the team has forgiven him. Are you sure? Do you really believe Zach and JT are going to really say what they feel about the situation to the press? Saban is evaluating everyone, what he wants will not be openly second guessed or criticized by the players.

5. Many of you have said you will welcome him back if his "head is in the game" and he "really wants to win". What makes you think this is any more than a way out of an $8.6 million settlement?

6. Ricky can't be trusted. This is perhaps the biggest issue. Suppose Ronnie goes down, and Ricky starts carrying the load again. Maybe he gets too many carries in the game...will he be there the next week? Suppose he hits a club, and someone fires up a joint and offers him a toke...is he going to refuse? Suppose the Fins stun the NFL and make it to the playoffs...will Ricky dress for the game, or will he put on a dress and go clubbing?

I cannot conceive of any way that Ricky coming back is a good thing. This decision will come back to bite Saban in the end.

I agree with #1 the most and it was part of my recent thread, similar topic.

This is exactly what I have been saying all along. He still isn't in Florida and doing any physical conditioning According to his grand poobah agent. So when does he start, and how long does he take to get in playing shape like he was? Alooooooooooooooooooong time.

1. Ricky or Minor and his paltry 2.6 ypc. HMMMMM Minor, what a great prospect!! Ha HA!

2. 1 Name Curtis Martin!!!! Ricky is younger faster will be bigger! His best year was a low ypc anyway. The line is better and he left b/c Wanny drove the desire from his body! Ricky lost considerable weight every offseason and added it back slowly to add new muscle.

3. Value is a pro bowler for less than market value! Ricky is w/o a doubt one of the best talents in the game! That is evident by the Nfl willing to forgo his suspension last year! Value in the draft is different than value for a star athlete! value is not giving a 4th to move 1 spot and pay $$$ for it! Namr 1 OL or db that will be the impact player for the same$$

4. Zach was hoping openly that Ricky would return last year if it would help them win!!! Just wait for Ricky to break a game winning run, bowling over people for the big score and watch JT celebrate w/ Ricky! Winning creates chemistry. Last year Ricky was not there and what chemistry was there?

5. ricky openly asked Collier to ask Wanny to do something different! He could not take the up the gut every play much longer. Leigh has came out and said that if Wanny were the coach that RW would not even consider coming back! Wanny led him to smoking and led him to seek a long journey in search of Holistic's which is against his astro body to smoke it now. What proof is there to show that he is playing to get out of debt! He could file bankruptcy. He could have stayed in India or Aus.

6. ricky is not the type to go Clubin' anyway! He has soc.anx.dis.What trust did he break? He said he wanted to retire, he did! He said he was coming back to Fla, he is. If he says he is going to play, he will!

leigh has said that he is working out! Those other comebacks were guys that left late in their career b/c they felt like their best days were behind them. Name one rb that left at 27-28 years old and did not have a succesful comeback. One w/ great talent that of Ricky's! He has til October!!!

lookat shaq and Kobe...they hated each other and won 3 rings

The only way Miami gets any of it;s money back that is owed them is to bring Ricky back. I belive the pre season will be the time Saban markets Ricky for a trade. Ricky should get a good bit of work during that time. Lets just wait and see what happens.

They won't have to pay Ricky a whole lot over the minimum. They should be able to sign him without much problem. I would guess brown gets 60 percent of carries and ricky 40.
