Have to get a physical guard. Jets and Bills both drafted dominant DT's and Miami has no one to match in the middle.
Brady - Russell Wilson - Brees - Montana etc. say otherwise.
That said, of course the % is better in R1 than R6. But it's still a projection
and I'd bet well over 50% of the QBs taken R1 eventually fizzle...
I mean the list is really, really long.
I looked at this a while back, but I'm pretty sure it still holds that quarterbacks drafted in the first round have a much better chance of being Super Bowl MVPs, All-Pro, or Pro Bowl nominees. For quarterbacks drafted first overall, obviously the odds are much better.
See that's your opinion..
It's obviously very difficult to find a QB, regardless of where they're picked. So my counterpoint to this is when you have value available to you and you have a need you should be exploring it. Rosen is just talent meeting value meeting need. My initial point was for people who want a QB this year, find me a better option than Rosen on day 2. You won't find one. Then it comes down to whether you just want to tank and ride with Fitz for a season or get the best value QB option. I'm honestly fine with both avenues, numbers say taking either approach will probably net similar results, but the upside is much greater going with the latter.
If there's a 10% chance I can get a Phillip Rivers type guy for a 3rd or 4th round pick I'm going to take it.
Brady is the exception to the rule. No one saw this coming, including Belichick. 6th rounders are guys that could develop into decent back ups, not 6 time Super Bowl winners.Really? Because I keep seeing the same 6th rnd QB in the Superbowl year after year after year....
The new staff has defined their #1 top priority in terms of quality for QB -- and it's leadership!
That said, if the same staff does not see that quality in Rosen then they should pass regardless
of the supposed value. They have clearly articulated their position relative to "make up" and
it would be a mockery if they violated that right out of the gate...
They have a plan and a process to get there and it's going to take some time -- certainly more than
1 draft and probably more than 2.
As far as the bottom line results -- it's WAY TOO EARLY to make even a WAG (wild as$ guess)!
So did weHave to get a physical guard. Jets and Bills both drafted dominant DT's and Miami has no one to match in the middle.
Perspective, there are a ton of backup quarterbacks better than Josh Rosen in the NFL. Just a few: Jeff Driskel. Blake Bortles, Brandon Allen, there is a bunch. They perform better!
I meant grandad, sorry. It was a long night
First of all, they don't. They're being given more than a year to evaluate them, which should be done with Rosen considering the dumpster fire he was put in. I'll give him that extra year of evaluation for a mid-round pick, you won't, that's basically it.
