Who Does Ronnie Compare Too?

Heres a little slice of reality, of the four teams in our division this is by far and away the biggest homer site of them all. I have never seen a more lopsided view of teams players than what I read here. The Jets and Pats sites are a little more down to earth w/ regard to the players. I come here and you guys are talking about when Brown is going tobreak the rushing record.

By the way most of you dont even understand what the word Homer means. Just b/c I have a diffrent view about one of your players doesn't mean i'm a homer. In this case I think R.Brown is going to be a bust but on another subject I think J.Taylor is one of the top 3DE in the NFL. Understand the word before you start using it

It never used to be like that..........it's unfortunate, but we've had a massive flood of new members, most of which are very young and immature and can't control their caps lock button.

Im going to hold my opinion of who Ronny reminds me of until I see him play...T.K.O. doesnt seem to mind labeling him Ron Dayne and thats just as anti-homer as the homers calling him Duece. Pot/Kettle black anyone???

Thats the smartest thing I have read in this whole thread! Lets give the kid a few carries before labeling him a bust or a probowler.

I have no problems with people chiming in on who they think they play like, but most of the responses have an air of "He's another so and so....." and I just don't like that. There's no way to know. I'm sure when Ki-Jana Carter came out he had a flood of comparisons as to who he played like or which "next" guy he was gonna be and look what happened to him.

It's way to premature to remark on anything about Ronnie's pro career. But some fans get excited, like a little puppy dog around new people, pissin' all over the place ..........except instead of pissin' some people write premature homeristic threads all over the board.

As for Ron Dayne comparisons - I'm hoping he was just trying to stir the pot a lil' because anyone watching college football knows those two guys are COMPLETELY different.

There are some people on here who are homers, but there is nothing wrong with people making pro comparisons to NFL prospects. It happens every year. The question was what NFL back does Brown's style most resemble. LT, Deuce, and Bo Jackson all have similar traits to Brown. He is not going to be a carbon copy of any of those players and may not even end up being good, he will have his own style, but the fact is prospects are compared to NFL players and those are the best comparisons.

Its amazing you can write a paragraph that big and not say a single thing of football value. Those "scouts" your talking about had as a second round pick till he ran the 40.

The only reality that will be setting in is for Brown when he only gets 20 yards against the Bills and is out of the game when Takeo gives him a welcome to the NFL shot
I gave just as many "football fact" as you did. I follow the draft very closely all year long. It is a hobby of mine, and your claim that Brown was a second round pick before his 40 time is completely false. His combine (not just his 40) solidified him as the top back in the draft, but many scouts thought he was the best RB prospect in the draft already, and most thought he was a better prospect than Williams. He was always considered one of the best players in the draft though and that is a "football fact".

..........and yet most people named a different back......... Bo was nothing like LT nor Duece........only Duece and LT share similar qualities in that they both can catch the ball.........

He's sort've got a point.........did you not read all the hub-bub made over Ronnie's 40 time?

I think the forty time just "solidified" him as the number one back...that was the only question scouts seemed to have was "how fast is he". He was a second rounder before the 40 time is crap.

Right, because he isn't a carbon copy of any of those. He has the versatility and straight line running ability of LT and Deuce, and has the size/speed combo of a Bo Jackson. There isn't a running back that is an exact comparison, so no he doesnt have the vision of LT, but he is someone who he can be compared to.

Exactly. He was never considered a second rounder. The reason so much was made about his 40 time was because at first it was reported he ran a 4.3, which is unheard of for someone his size. Even a 4.4 which he really did run for a 233lb back is very fast, and yes he had a very good combine, but that is how some players' stocks are elevated. That is why they have the combine. He was always considered in the mix for the top back though. That just solidified him there.
