"Its amazing you can write a paragraph that big and not say a single thing of football value. Those "scouts" your talking about had as a second round pick till he ran the 40."
Simply untrue. Ron Brown has been considered a solid 1st Round pick since very early on in the '04 NCAA season. Once he demonstrated some of the softest hands in the entire draft, plus a ridiculous 40 time for a man of his size at the combine, this vaulted him to the top of a deep RB class, but he was never going in the 2nd round.
Opinions are fine, but the logic behind your stance is completely flawed. They didn't run Carnell, and then insert Ronnie "when the defense was tired" late in games. They split carries throughout games, all season. He logged carries in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Quarters nearly every game. He was also more effective against stout defenses like Va. Tech and LSU when he was doing the running.
At 230 pounds, he's a rare package. Strength, blocking ability, soft hands and speed combined with that mass doesn't happen too often.
To make a comparison with A. Smith indicates either you've rarely seen him play and aren't much of a fan of the college game, or you don't understand the game of football in general.
But keep expecting to see Antwoin Smith lining up in Aqua over the next decade, and make sure to show up so we can recall this "debate" when the time comes.
