Who forgives ricky for what he did?

Sorry, didn't mean to insult you.

...and my question if you were Jewish or not was not sarcastic.

I really was asking.

All I meant it as was a figure of speech. My apologies.

If it makes you feel any better, let me re-phrase it:

"I don't care if Satan was our running back...

I just want to win!!!!"

There.

LOL........MUCH better. It's hard to tell the tone of posts sometimes.........I was actually bracing myself for the thought that this conversation was about to go a bad route........and I'm relieved to see that you're as understanding as you've shown.

Oh come on baby, It's DD28!!

EVERYONE loves me!! :)

(Seriously, my apologies again. I didn't mean anything. I was just being hyperbolic. I REALLY want to win.)

He did not just quit on a job to me. He quit on the organization that gave up a lot to get him. One that gave him some easy incentives that they never had to do. All so he could make a top salary. It was his own fault thgt his job sucked so bad. All he had to do was take a break once in a while. But NO, he wanted that last incentive, and Wanny gave into his wishes.

You need to get a grip, just like people needed to get a grip about your constant pissing and moaning over the last 5 years about Wanny.

I, like you, am not turning my back on this team just because im mad. I'll have to deal with it, but I won't shut up about it until I see how he addresses things when he comes back.

This is not about murder, wife beating, weed smoking to me. This is about something that I have passion for. The Miami Dolphins. The same name, the same team that Ricky pissed on last year.

Awesome post, my thoughts exactly. Ricky not only quit on the Miami Dolphins. He quit on me and the millions of other fans, the city of Miami, his teamates, coaches and front office. We have all quit jobs; I doubt any of us quit a job where we carried the burdon of peoples hopes, dreams and even some peoples job security. What he did was reprehensible and all I can do is forget. I can never forgive him.

In order to be forgiven I figured someone would need to apologize first and ask for forgiveness?

Ricky Williams = fools gold.

The question is who forgives ricky for what he did i for one if and when he does comes back i will support it but i will never ever buy another ricky thing again.maybe it's just me but i have mixed feelings one part wants to forgive him the other half wants to say screw him i guess he will have to regain that trust and respect back with his teamates first and then with the fans.myself i will cheer for anybody in a fins uniform hands down but i don't know maybe im just confused.

How can you forgive somebody who did'nt ask for forgiveness and doesn't want your forgiveness.....

-ricky made wanny/spielman leaving a reality
just imagine if they were still here!!

i still want to like ricky as a person, i hope that he does this the right way....right now its a media frenzy and thats why he said he was in boston yet has arrived in miami...i mean **** he's the biggest story in the NFL right now.

ricky just make a small apology, people will forgive but you cant be arrogant about it at all, and you have to give in at least a little bit that you made a bad judgement call......or dont say anything at all and just show it on the field, we'll know by your performance whats up.....run ricky run

If you want to be pissed because our team won less games because of him than be pissed. But for how long? I mean really?

But to make this into some kind of moral issue is BS. People are pissed beause their favorite sports team lost more games. Period. It has nothing to do with "honor" and "loyalty" etc. If we would have won 12 games without Ricky and went to the Super Bowl how many of you would feel as strong abut the "values"? Uhmmm...my guess is no one cares.

Ricky was in a crappy situation. His own fault, but crappy. He was getting physically abused. He then tests positive for pot. He knows he is going to get suspended, he knows he is going to get harrassed by the media, and he said "you know this sucks, I think I will just quit". And he does.
I am grateful. If Ricky does not quit we probably are looking at 8-8. Then We don't get the changes we need. So Ricky's departure, for me is very positive. His return is even more positive.

Am i the only one glad that ricky smokes weed? i remember thinking he was such a poseur with those dreads.....at least he's the real deal.

and i'll say it once again, id rather him fail pot piss tests then test positive for steroids....

He brought a lot of this extra pressure on to himself. No one was holding a gun to his head and said smoke this or else?

A few folks on this forum have stated that they have family members with this condition and that smoking pot is more effective than the medication. Ricky has also indicated that.

I am not condoning what Ricky did. All I am saying is that his condition (and the potential result) was well known in the organization. Somebody should have picked up on the signs yet they did nothing - except continue to put more pressure on Ricky.

BTW: What is the difference in this and Barry Sanders? I seem to remember when Barry retired, a year later, most Dolphans were clamoring for the organization to go and get him. Barry quit on his team - right before training camp as well.

I have no personal feelings for Ricky either way. He's his own man and has the freedom to make his own bone headed mistakes if he wants too...he also has the freedom to learn from his mistakes and try as hard as he can to make amends.

Nevertheless, he should not come back here without having paid some type of penalty for what he did. Otherwise, he would never have learned his lesson. He should be penalized for the mistake of quitting on his team at the worst possible moment by having to play for either the regular contract salary without further incentives (basically a minimum salary) or repaying at least a portion of his signing bonus. He shouldn't come back here one year after the fact and automatically start earning the same money he was making before. If he gets away with this, then I'll be mad. He would then be getting away with his stupid behavior and not having experienced the consequence of his actions. He doesn't like his contract? Tough doo-doo. He signed it and it was re-done in his favor a few years ago. Just because he studied yoga doesn't mean that his meditation has made him (or ever will make him) exempt from having to pay penalties in life, imo.

To me it's not a forgiveness issue. Ricky doesn't owe me much. It's the Dolphins organization that he needs to settle this with. I've paid for Dolphins tickets and bought Dolphins memorabilia but that has only paid appriximately %0.0000000000000001 of his salary. He's never paid any of my bills, eaten dinner with my family, or sent me a card when I've had the flu...so, I don't feel loyalty to him (concern for him to an extent yes) and I don't think he needs to feel much loyalty to me either. I'm only interested whether he helps our team this season (and the following) or not. Any sign of further drama from his part should be met through some type of (further) disciplinary action by the Dolphins. None of us have time to tolerate any more baloney from him, IMO...and he shouldn't be shocked or hurt by negative reactions to him. He brought it on himself. Karma can suck, I know Ricky.

Of course it's about loyalty. If it was just about winning games then everybody would want him back (if they believe he helps). In fact, the group that forgives keeps saying winning is the bottom line. For me, it's all about loyalty. And it doesn't matter that it's entertainment. It's about doing what you say you're going to do in life. I know people in my life who have been equivalently disloyal. I don't respect them either. They weren't in high profile positions. They didn't affect how many games my favorite team won. The difference is that they were disloyal to me, so it affected me personally. RW wasn't disloyal to me personally. I only know of RW's actions b/c he is high profile. So, I have nothing to forgive him for, but when it comes to voicing my opinion about whether he is a good addition to a team then my answer is NO.

Seeing as this is my second post I understand if some of you lend no credence to the point I am going to attempt to make. I think it would behoove us all to take a step back and attempt to gain some perspective on this man and his situation. Where we go on autumn Saturdays and Sundays for entertainment is where this man has gone to work for the past 8 or 9 years. Because I look at what all professional athletes do as exactly that...a job, I don't fault Rick for leaving when he did. Playing in Wannstedt's offense is the NFL equivalent to a dead end job...albeit for a lot more money.

During his incoherent ramblings on 60 Minutes he did bring up an interesting question. You'll have to excuse me for paraphrasing but he asked something to the effect of, "When should I retire?" My answer to that is, "Whenever he damn well pleases." I'd hate to show up for work one day and be told that I can't leave, because I'm under contract, a contract that my employer can terminate or alter at any time without my consent. I don't feel like I need to forgive him because I would have done the same thing in his situation and risked the penalty of being held in default and therefore owing $8.6 million. I'd rather that than having chronic pain for the rest of my life from playing "wadball" for a few too many seasons.

As for loyalty, I have serious doubts as to whether or not it still exists (that's another issue in and of itself). Like any other company, the Miami Dolphins football team has a loyalty only to success. Success on the field and success in the marketplace. While his reasons for retiring were scattered and conflicting he ultimately did what all players should do when it is a question of loyalty to self or loyalty to team. Choose yourself because the team will in most cases do the same. Ask Eddie George or Lawyer Milloy. Or maybe Tom Rathman or the guy who maybe got the biggest screw in my life as an NFL fan, Chuck Cecil.
