Who is frank middleton

For years we've had smaller lines. Mark Dixon was about the only guy who could get away with being at or under 300 pounds. Man he was good when he was on the field.

Having these big bodies is going to be quite advantageous. Just imagine being an opposing lineman or linebacker in the 4th quarter of a September game at Dolphins Stadium. It's 3:15 PM. The sun's still overhead. Three quarters of battle in the sweltering heat is going to wear you down.

But the big boys in white across from you are used to this. They're not tired. Nor are the dangerous stable of running backs behind them, who've been rotating all afternoon. And they're all gonna keep hitting you. It's something that can break people.

Wait until Kansas City gets here in late October. It's still gonna be hot. And Ricky will be back splitting time with Ronnie. And regardless of the strides they've made defensively, they're still weak upfront.

I remember Oakland coming here in Week 15 of 2002 on their way to the Super Bowl. They had this big bad run defense. And when the 4th quarter rolled around, Tim Ruddy was throwing big Sam Adams to the ground as Ricky Williams punished the exhausted Silver and Black.

It's always hot down here. And very few visting players can deal with it.

Middleton will absolutely start at RG as soon as he gets into shape and his quad is 100% (he says it is). This dude is a stud in the run game and has been solid starter his entire career. He also adds more size to the line, which Houck likes.

You can bet the plan is for Middleton to take the RG job with Hadnot supplanting McKinney inside. It's going to happen, whether it's opening day or sometime after. It's gonna happen.

Bedard says that the coaches have been very impressed with Hadnot. He also goes as far as to say Hadnot will go down as the best acquisition Rick Spielman ever made.

The approximate height|weight of that projected OL from left to right......

6-5 | 6-3 | 6-2 | 6-3 | 6-6
335 | 320 | 325 | 330 | 348

It sounds very promising, but for this first preseason game I read that Hadnot and Middleton are playing on the second line. The starting line vs Chicago is Carey/Whitley/McKinney/St.Clair/McDougle. I guess we'll have to wait a week or two to see our five hogs out there together as starters.

yes but KC has 2 guys on their D who know what the weather is like down here, but I agree the heat will be a huge advantage. You combine that with the fact we'll have the biggest OL we've had in awhile, and we'll have the most talent since the days of Webb and Simms. I mean if Tim Ruddy was throwing Sam Adams around in the 4 quarter when he was getting help from Todd Perry and Jaime Nails (who was great that year) imagine what an interior line of Jeno-Hadnot-Middleton could do

that line won't last long. St Clair might give a strong showing, but no way he beats out both Hadnot(who has probably been the best linemen in camp so far) and Middleton. and I'd rather have Ephraim starting at C than having McKinney (watching McKinney last season and at camp this year makes me miss Ruddy)

frank is the nasty type player we need. not afraid to play to and sometimes past the whistle. he brings the agrresive atitude we need up front. after 2 serious quad injuries amongst others, the question is can he stay healthy

It was disgusting to watch.

Cowart had like 5 sacks in the 1st half. He might have broken the record. Then, after the play is over, Here comes Middleton. Cowart wasnt even looking, walking away and he dove at Cowarts Ankle.

Look out, Fletcher. ;)

we finally have some beef up front, hopefully they can stay injury free and gel quickly under houck

What's ironic is that the majority of this line probably won't be starting next month.

1. I doubt Cowart had 5 sacks in 1 half.

2. If your talking about the game against Tampa, I'm pretty sure that it was McDaniel that injured Cowart.

Going by Saban's comments, one would think he already knows Hadnot is a much superior player as the center, so why is he postponing the inevitable by starting Seth still?
As for Middleton, he certainly isn't up to speed yet, so one would not expect him to be starting this soon, also I think St.Clair will give him much more of a fight for the starting RG job, than Hadnot will get from Seth at center.
