who kidnapped tbaum and upped his iq?

Let's see how it plays out. Seems like Miami is off to a good start, but I'm still concerned about the guard spot. Those guys are flying off the free agent table and I'd like to see the Dolphins solve that heading into the draft.

That said, with all the needs Miami has it would be hard to fill them all in free agency. The draft is where it's at and that's where the team has to do a great job each year.

So Gase is only responsible for good moves but Grier and T Baum are responsible for the bad moves?

I call B.S

People here always blame personnel they hate while always praising personnel they like, whether it's deserved or not.

I do not understand with our cap space how we are not going after John Hankins or tried for Brandon Williams. That's only position I would have splurged on. Our runs D was ranked 30th. We can get as many edge rushers but if we can't stop run. We will lose some close games like we did last year. Hankins is 24 above average run stuffing DT. This would let us focus on lb's and OL in draft.

I'm waiting to see the numbers before passing judgement, but I'm certainly waiting to see the numbers

Has anybody ever considered the possibility that Tanenbaum's moves with the Jets that get so much flack may have had more to do with Rex Ryan than himself? Since Gase got here it seems like T-baum has worked well within Gases vision for this team. Rex, while a fantastic defensive coordinator, never seemed to have too much of a vision moving forward for the team's he coached. Maybe having a forward thinker to work with at HC we're seeing what he's really capable of in a management role. Just a thought.

He was also GM over Eric Mangini for 3 years before Rex even got there.

"It's just a trade that didn't work out," he said. "Each year, we'll make 200-plus transactions. Some worked out, some didn't."

Tannenbaum confirmed he hatched the idea to pursue Tebow, who became expendable when the Denver Broncos signed Peyton Manning last March.

"For seven years, I had final say on everything. That was an honor and a privilege and a responsibility I totally embraced -- whether it was trading for Tim Tebow or trading up for Darrelle Revis or trading for Brett Favre and everything in between. Ultimately, I had the final say on things."

Tannenbaum made some great draft picks and plucked the star players out of a few drafts. He also made some head scratching moves.

Run D was bad for multiple reasons, and DT wasn't the main factor, we didn't have an edge setter at DE who could stop the run (insert William Hayes), we didn't have any decent run stopping linebackers (kiko was great but not a huge factor in run game), hence why we've targeted Timmons, didn't have our box safety to help against the run reshad coming back should help, and finally we had inconsistent play from Phillips however he showed flashes is a former second round pick whose still developing that I think our coaches have faith/hope in. Just look at a guy like Paul Soliai I remember many thought he was a bust until like his 4th year in the league DTs can take some time to develop (just a thought)

It's not such a "ridiculous agenda" when in their collective wisdom, by dint of his options within the league, 31 other teams, including the one who knew him best, apparently believed that!

Apparently? So your far-fetched insinuation is that Mike was turned down by 31 NFL teams? Nah, that's not ridiculous. You are spot on here mate. [emoji849]

I'll admit I like the fact we're focusing on our own guys, even if Branch and Alonso don't impress me much

Let's not kid ourselves, fans of other teams love the fact we have Tannenbaum just like they used to love our being coached by Wanny, or as much as we all enjoyed... well, the Jets with Tannenbaum, for example. If he's really changed, great. But that's a conversation that'll have to wait a few months yet

Well, he was willing to take a demotion in NY to be the capologist if incoming GM candidates hadn't felt uncomfortable with him in the building... and when it came to front office positions elsewhere - he ended up out of the league so "apparently" there was no room at the inn for him mate.

So nor is a blind defense of him "ridiculous" :idk:

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think Mike T is in a good role for what his strengths are right now. And that is, schmoozing with people, getting guys in the same room to communicate, and convincing the GM to pull the trigger on late night trades.

I flipped a hissy fit when we brought him into the organization, but I'm starting to believe that I was wrong in my initial dislike of the hire.

Well, Tannenbaum did try to win March his first year signing Suh to an absurd contract. Since Gase and Grier arrived our offseason approach seems to have changed. Not giving them all of the credit but I don't think it's just a coincidence.

I believe that the most important element for personnel success is the FO having a tight and strong working relationship with the coaching staff. It will help identify talent, and most importantly, talent that translates to success in the schemes. That was obviously lacking with Philbin...an unforgivable sin among his many transgressions!

The FO, Gase & company appear to be attached at the hip on personnel. There will still be misses...the best GMs have a long list of misses, but there should be more hits...which mean more wins.

I'll forgive Tannebaum for Sanchez, Gholston and his snake oil salesman personality if he works well with Gase and Grier. In fact I'd say that they may be able to harness his " Trader Mike" qualities for good rather than evil...

It's possible. After all, Tannenbaum is a good operator, he just sucks at making big-picture decisions. If he's surrounded by better people and has accepted to defer to them in important decisions -and none more important than team-building strategy, since he's totally oblivious to that- then I believe he could be a good element. Maybe that's what's happening, but I'll wait until after the draft to seriously start considering this.
