Who Makes it a Wide Reiver if Johnson is Let Go?

Hartline
Bess
Nanee
Wallace
Mathews(mainly because he is a good returner)
Cunningham

I don't know why Hartline's spot is so secure. Philbin did not draft him, and he has done nothing on the practice field up to this point. I think that they should have taken Braylon Edwards when they had the chance. Did you see the catch he made last night? I would unload Hartline and keep another one of the youngsters to develop.
I dont know where the notion that any young receiver can develop to be that great no.1 receiver came from...? It does happen dont get me wrong, but lets be realistic here... Who are those young star potential players you speak of? Wallace, Pruitt, Cunny and matthews are all low round picks or undrafted FAs... To expect even one of them to become above average is kind of a reach, while Hartline as at the very least proved he could play in this league...

i think gates gets cut he doesn't look tough enough. Hartline if he cant get on the field could be next. I think the dolphins go with the young up and comer like pruit wallace for sure. Perhaps they keep an extra tighend

keeping CJ is a terrible example...1 year fix? I´d rather see if theese younglings have something in them, we´re probably drafting a couple next year anyway...Long story short, I´d rather have Hogan, than 85 on the team, for multiple reasons...discipline being the first

Put me down for

Naanee, Hartline, Bess, Wallace, Pruitt, and either Moore, Cunningham, or the kid who had a couple impressive kick returns Friday night.

If Johnson stays for the rest of preseason.............

put me down for the same group I listed above.

I need to see Naanee make more of an impact in a game before I annoint him with a spot. Hartline and Gates need to get on the field as well. Take them out of the equation and you have Cunningham, Wallace, Pruitt, Bess, Moore, Matthews and Fuller, with Hogan a long shot. If Tannehill is going to start why not give him youth at wr to grow with. I need to see Naanee make some some plays.

I wouldnt be surprised to see us poach some players from the saints after the cuts, they seem to have a logjam at WR right now...

Depending on whether Hartline gets put on the PUP list, will probably decide the final WR spots on the roster. If Hartline goes on the PUP list; I'll go with 1) Bess 2) Nanee 3) Wallace 4) Pruitt and 5) Matthews ... P/S WR 1) Hogan 2) Cunningham ... Pruitt is already on the starting Return Unit in camp for special team play. To me that is an indication he's made the team. Matthews is built like a tank and is elusive enough in the open field to have some kind of impact on the return teams. He's also shown he can handle both KR and PR making him valuable. You need to take chances sometimes. I may be wrong here but this WR situation is where I think Philbin will take chances. Look at GB; every year they seem to take a WR to groom. If Hartline make it back and shows he's healthy, the WR position just get added by 1 IMHO.

Hartline CANT be put on the PUP...

Honestly, this is how I felt even before the Dolphins signed Chad Johnson. Again, maybe none of the young guys turn out to be stars, but maybe one of them can emerge as a solid NFL receiver. I agree we will be looking to draft a wr or bring in a quality free agent next year. Most likely the draft as I think our MO has changed under Philibin to bring in depth guys in free agency and not the high priced guys.

I didn't realize that. Why wouldn't he be eligible? maybe the Non Football injury list?

Because he took part in some practices in training camp, makes him ineligible...

I liked what I saw from BJ Cunningham ,Roberto Wallace and Julis Pruitt. I would be real disappointed if those three don't make the team.
