Who would have thought Tom Brady was going to be the QB he is I know I never did I thoght the Patriots were nuts to replace Drew but look what happend. You never know how a player is going to be, there are alot of examples, How about Terrel Davis, I hate the Broncos and patriots but those two 6th rounder worked out pretty well. I know Brock wasnt drafted but it could still be the same.

Brock had his moments in college. However, his size is not the ideal one for a starting NFL QB. He does have a decent arm I will give him that, but he would only be third string unless he continues to peform at that intensity that he did a few nights ago. We still have three pre-season games so if he shows Saban what he wants maybe he will move into a position where he can take snaps from the 2nd O.

If your son can make the deep out pass consitently then I say give him a shot. Don't be so hard on the kid, if I remember correctly our first round pick wasn't able to crack the starting lineup with his college team either.

It's not about being hard on the kid, it's about not squandering practice time and game time experience on someone with no realistic shot at the job. He didn't not get drafted because he was overlooked. Pre-season, while boring to us, is a very important time, especially for a new coaching staff with a lot of new players. It's not a jamboree where everyone gets a turn to play "NFL Starter for a day." BTW, my son throws a good out but doesn't consistently look off the safety. Plus, he's five.

Berlin at 6 foot 1 in., size isn't an issue unless you say that Drew Brees, Rex Grossman, and Michael Vick also have a size problem (all of whom are 6 foot or 6 foot 1 in.). If you want me to list all of the starting QBs who are only 1 in. taller then Berlin at 6 foot 2 in. I could do that but it's a long list

I'd like to see Frerotte start Saturday's game, then Berlin get a quarter. Then Sage get the 3rd and leave the 4th quarter for Feeley. THat way we can also see if Feeley even looks as good as Berlin did against the mop up scrubs at the end of the games.

It's too early to pull the trigger yet. We have 3 more preseason games so this is how I see it. Give Gus the start because he still needs some practice with the first team because, whether you want to believe it or not, he has the best chances of starting opening day. Of course he's still going to have to give Feeley some time behind Gus at #2 in this next one in order for him to get a LAST CHANCE at beating out Gus. If Gus does a good job and proves that he can move the ball against a proven Defense like the Steelers, then Saban has a little room to play. Next he will bring in Berlin to show what he has against some better second/third string defense with depth. If Berlin does good ... look for him to either be in after the first series in the next game. Of course they'll give Gus the start so he doesn't get too rusty ... but he won't stay in longer than one series.

i dont say start him against pitt, that's a hard team to have ur first start against. maybe 2nd quarter. and to islandah, mr. marino's was 16, brock's was 13, not much of a difference huh. tim couch had a 22, and how did he turn out. wonderlic has nothing to do with skill and talent, only smarts, and that can be taught. try berlin at starting against the bucs, a good d, but he can do sumthin against them. or atlanta, who's d (especially passing) isnt that hot. im so sick of the "he's playing against scrubs" excuse, HE'S ALSO PLAYING WITH SCRUBS.

Why did you change the question between the topic and the actual poll?

Would I like to see Brock Berlin play with the first team? Yes I would, it would be interesting to see, and I'm curious. Do I think he should play with the first team? No I do not, he would be taking away valuable reps from someone who's actually going to start.

You can't have it both ways.

Do I think he should play with the first team?

i dont see the difference in the two questions.

Huge Hurricane fan here and I don't want to see Brock Berlin in the state of Florida.

All Brock Berlin "deserves" or has "earned" is the opportunity to keep practicing with the team to try to improve his stock. All we see is a few minutes of Berlin in a meaningless preseason game against players that will be flipping burgers in a few weeks. Saban and Linehan see him every day in practice. They are the ones that have written Berlin in as 4th string, not the Feeley or Frerotte lovers. But, even if the fan's opinions did count for something, look at the camp reports from fans that attended.....Brock has been horrible.
So, our coaching staff...which everyone seems to equate with Jesus and the disciples....doesn't think Berlin is good enough to warrant a 1st string shot, fans that have seen practices as well as a few minutes in preseason games don't think he's good enough, none of the other NFL teams felt he was good enough, even his own college seemed to have doubts, but for some reason there is suddenly this outpouring of love for Berlin? Go figure!
