Who's a Better Coach: Joe Philbin or Ron Rivera?

If Nolan Carroll intercepts the 3rd down pass on the last drive, or perhaps if Jones doesn't commit the personal foul on the hit out of bounds then everyone would be praising Philbin. It's amazing they were leading most of the game given the inability to run the ball at all.

Make all the excuses you want, but this is not a one time occurrence. Same thing happened against the Patriots. Philbin hasn't shown he's a good coach yet so he gets no benefit of the doubt.

Ron Rivera learned his lesson. He kept losing close games because he played it close to the vest, and he said '**** it' and became Riverboat Ron.

Joe Philbin must learn this lesson before it's too late. No, wait, it is too late.

What's scary is that I'm sensing that some people would prefer Sparano to Philbin.

In all honesty, I think Sparano would have a better record right now with this same team...

I agree. Tony's only red zone threat was Fasano, since Marshall usually dropped passes in the end zone, so he settled for FGs. Philbin has more talent on offense that can catch in the end zone, but he can't get the team to reach the red zone that often. I think that maybe Henning was a better playcaller than Sherman.

not a fair "Sophie's Choice"?... you gave us the F, and the Kill... which is good, cuz we wouldn't wanna Marry either one of 'em!

I just don't get all the criticism that Philbin is uninspiring. Who cares? All I can do is judge his game day management, and I see someone who is focused and well prepared.

Not to be a smart-alec, but what do you see in Philbin that makes him look focused and well-prepared? I don't get that at all. And I can think of two occasions this year when this team had extra time off to get ready and came out not just flat but dreadful. That's not how a well-prepared team plays.

We have team that puts up 0's in the 4th quarter. An offense that struggles to put up 17 points a game. The winning teams in this weeks games except for 1, all scored more than 16 points. It's like that just about every week. The coaching has been garbage.

The reason we can't close is we can't run the ball. It's that FN simple people. Many on here are looking for scapegoats that just aren't there.

A lot of Carolina fans are enjoying the ride and dreading the fact that it will give Rivera a new lease on life. Hes been a pretty awful head coach even if he has figured out how to utilize all the talent he has on defense.

Lots of bitter folks in here...

Riverboat Ron and it's not even close.

The threads here are interesting in their attempt to defend Failbin and mediocrity.

I choose none of the above. I'm not particularly impressed with either of them.
