The issue is talent acquisition and coaching. I have to blame all parties: Ireland, the scouts, and the coaching staff. It is clear that Ireland and Philbin are responsible for the problems. Ultimately, Ireland is responsible.

Coaches. Not enough emphasis placed on the running game, either in theory or in practice.

Case in point: yesterday's game in which we're trying to hold a lead against a better team, trying to control the clock in the second half, and get out-rushed in the game in terms of attempts 29 to 17. Ridiculous.

Crappy OL and crappy RB's....what do you expect?

This starts at the top. Six years building this line by Ireland with two off seasons of input by Philbin & co.Terrible results, absolutely terrible.

You can say that again Dude.

Did anyone see the yards Tolbert got against us? We have nothing near that on our roster. We haven't had anything like that on our roster for as long as I can remember.

personally i put alot of the blame on the cadence, might as well say "48, Its a Run Play", but maybe thats cause ive never seen something like this and i cant understand it

Not many will want to hear this, but our running game hasn't been the same since the arrival of the new staff. Our offense hasn't been as efficient as that 2011 offense. New system and a young QB, but if the running game isn't clicking after a year and a half, it's a really bad sign.

Agree our running backs are just not that good. Thomas does not fit our scheme. He consistently does not produce either inside or on the
outside. Lamar Miller has entire games where he just disappears. CLE- 3 yards, TPA- 2 yards, Carolina-8 yards. Yesterday nearly every
play he used a spin move into a waiting defender. Both of our backs have poor vision, a poor feel for the holes, and are not that strong.
Contrast with Lynch or Knowshon Moreno, or Tolbert , all of whom are tough to bring down. We rarely get that kind of performance from
our backs. Add to that our mess with the offensive line and there is a lot of work to be done. Personally, I'd dump Thomas and Thigpen,
and use Miller as our punt/kick return specialist. Then look for more talent in the draft or free agency eg Ben Tate (Texans) or Bishop
Sankey RB from U of Washington.

Yeah how the **** do you lose 9 yards on a run play? How?

The coaches who are trying to fit square pegs in round holes on the OL playing people who arent strong in a zone blocking scheme, in a zone blocking scheme. Sherman who cant call a consistent game to save his *** and Coyle who does a mediocre job at best (admittingly calling the wring defense yesterday). The OL coach, the QB coach, the HC.... Its the coahces job to coach up players and they havent done that at all, constantly putting players in a position to lose... Yeah, lets call another run out of shotgun again! Lets play prevent defense late in the game down by only 3!

Tolbert is a special player. Big guys who can run like that are rare. We haven't had a good FB or big RB for a LONG time.
How about SD, though? they let go of Sproles and Tolbert.

I agree Thigpen has played himself out of town if I'm GM. Terrible decisions and execution on KR and not doing enough on offense. Last year he seemed faster. Not sure what's going on there. I'm inclined to have him touchback every kick, so then who needs him.
Yes, I know I've gone 180 there but I have eyes.
