Why Are Out Of Towners Still Dolphans?

All I have to say is two words: Philadelphia fan.

In my lifetime, I've only seen one of my teams win a title and that was the Phillies in 2008. Besides that, only a handful of times have I seen my teams make the finals with the Sixers in 2001, Flyers in 2010, and the Phillies in 2009. That's it. Because god knows the Dolphins haven't done much to inspire confidence in me.

I guess you can say I'm loyal to a fault.

I never switch teams. Points to ----------> 76ers and Astros.

WOW, Astros and 76ers (after DR J) are above and beyond the call of duty for any fan. Dolphins must look good.

I've been a Dophins fan since 1972, when I was 5. I grew up just west of Rochester, N.Y. where Bills fans never "came out" until early 90's. There are A LOT of Dolphin fans up there. I also liked the Celtics, Dodgers and Sabres back then, but football is the only "spectator" sport I still enjoy. People that are from, or live in cities that have major sports teams who claim to be "fans" yet know nothing about their "favorite" teams are ridiculous, ya know what I mean? Like most of you guys on here, I'm a Phins fan til I die! It's almost TC time fellas...Phins Up!

How did this happen in Germany?

Destiny... :)

I was on vacation in Miami about 20 years ago. That was the time when American Football became popular in Germany because of the World League and so I attendet a preaseason game against the Buccaneers in Miami. Back home I started some study about the Dolphins and learned about their bright history, Dan Marino, Don Shula, the perfect season and so on.

I was intrigued from the very first moment and the the team never let me leave...

My dad was a proud Raider fan back in there hey day so just to piss him off I became a Dolphins fan as the games back then between the two were huge.

Man, they were some Classic Battles. How the Mighty have fallen.

I have never waverd on any of my professional teams. Im down with the Reds,Dolphins Celtics and Bruins.
I used to be a New York Cosmos fan before the NASL went belly up. I wish it was as simple as chosing another team sometimes but it isn't.
Im from Tampa but hate the Bucs, pull for Rays as long as Reds are not playing them same with Lightning

I know nothing else.. Plus I live in NewEngland and learned to HATE the Pats SO much over the last 10 years, as probably most of you, that there is not any option to root for my hometown team now! PHINS FOR LIFE!!

Bob Griese was born and raised near our home town in southern Indiana. Dad followed his career, which led to the 67 draft and being picked by the Dolphins. Well Dad was my hero, so another dolphins fan was born. Also a long time Reds, Celts (Larry Bird southern Indiana too) and Indiana University fan.

Colts came a calling in 1984 when they relocated to Indiana, but never flinched, stayed true to my first team from 69 at age 5.

So I have stayed with them because partly I am Old School and mostly because Dad always taught me to be loyal

I have been a fan since 1969, and no matter where I live, the Miami Dolphins are my team.
Regardless of where you are in the USA or world, you will find Miami Dolphins Fans. That is pretty cool.

Became a Phin fan in 81/82. I remember seeing them on TV and loving the team.
Soon after I was going through a xmas catalog, and showing my mom some NFL figurines. One was a Phin the other a Steeler. I still have both. They are not big visual things, but they proudly sit on my mantle in the man cave.

Growing up in Kansas, I was never a Chief or Donkey fan like most of my friends.
