As I was looking through Finheaven this morning I read a few posts that basically assume that the Dolphins are going to lose to Tom Brady and the Patriots. Yes, we do have some issues that need to be fixed, every team does. Yes, we have lost a few important games. However, this team still has a very bright future. Our running games was on point against a team that has a strong run defense, we only allowed 2 sacks vs Bills when we are averaging nearly 5 or 6 per game. Tannehill still has a respectable passer rating.

You guys need to have more faith in this team. I truly believe that we are in the mix of a playoff run. We have beat the Bengals the last two seasons, it's a winnable game. Tom Brady is having one of the worst statistical years of his career and that Patriots are missing some key defensive players. The JETS just took down the Patriots. We can win, and I truly have faith that we will. I'll be at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, with my girl, and we'll be PROUDLY rocking our Ryan Tannehill jerseys. Keep in mind we are 3-3, still at .500. Still very much alive in the race to win the AFC East. Have some faith, Dolphans. Be proud of your squad. With all the issues that we have, we are doing a great job of staying competitive, and we will pull off some of these games. Before the season started, we would have been ecstatic if we started off 3-3. We expected this, and now we are going to make a run!!!!!! #FinsUp #JustWinBaby #LiveAndDieBy17

You're allowed to feel that way just the same as I'm allowed to feel the opposite. New England is going to win big.

I like the optimism, but it's tough to feel like a team has a chance to be highly competitive IMO when its QB play, for whatever reason, isn't high-level and consistent. Consistent, high-level QB play is the cornerstone of competitive play in the NFL, and it isn't there for this team at this point.

Technically the season is not over but the fact that we've played progressively worse each week, the tackles have given up 14 sacks between them, we turn the ball over with regularity, we've had injury after injury on defense, we can't run the ball and when we can run the ball we refuse to makes it extremely difficult to remain optimistic. Lets face it, we've all seen this song and dance before. Historically, we look like we have the last 4 seasons where we missed the playoffs. In some areas worse than those seasons.

It just seems that year after year we fail to put a complete team on the field. Last year we traded Brandon Marshall and never replace him at WR...we had Brian Hartline a 4th round pick at WR and then 4 undrafted free agent WRs. This year we lost Jake Long and we didn't replace him...but we fixed the WR position. It's like the front office gets tunnel vision and focuses on one spot and loses the big picture. You can't build a winner without hitting on draft picks and retaining the draft picks that work out. It's like we're constantly in rebuilding mode.

Hard to have high level QB play when your QB has been setup to fail from day 1.

The Bills loss was a morale killer. Dropping a game like that at home vs a team with a practice squad QB, it's kind of hard to have faith that the team is going to the playoffs.

They have a chance to restore that faith by winning the next 2 games

That is the problem....it is never a true rebuild....there are only band-aid fixes they hope get them through the season...

This is the problem with constantly missing on second and third round picks. !st rounders have panned out for the most part and the late round picks are on par with the rest of the NFL, but I don't think I have seen another team miss as badly as the phins on the second and third rounds.

Almost anytime you're starting a rookie QB, you're doing a rebuild. You're giving up the chance to win now for the chance to win later, which is the definition of rebuilding, and if you're starting a rookie at QB, the position most strongly related to winning in the NFL, you're very unlikely to win now.

Now that doesn't mean you won't win now, because some teams have won with a rookie QB, but it's the exception to the rule.

I like our chances against NE, and I don't think the season is over at all. We are a few plays away from being 5-1 imo, and I still think this is a very competitive football team despite our weaknesses.

While I'm this optimism is good for building you up because you spent money on tickets, I'm not sure it'll win many fans over right now. We do have a bright future, but maybe after the Pats game. Tom Brady is winning with waaaaaay less than we have. He beat the Saints as well.
A lot of fans saw that we came back in the Buff game, but we lost that thing we had in the 1st 3 games, the ability to hang in the 4th and take home the win. Thats cause for worry for a team arguably not good enough to win in cruise control.
We could not beat a team we had 2 weeks to prepare for, even though Philbin said they were working to fix past game's mistakes. I don't belive in the coaching staff right now. I don't believe Tanny can not get sacked 4 times a game right now, and I don't belive in our ability to acquire and keep a 4th qtr lead right now. But winning changes everything. I REALLY want to belive though.

Faith is believing what you know aint so - Mark Twain

Seriously, anyone who has watched this organization over the last 10 years should not be expected to believe in the team. And I'm an optimistic fan. At the moment there is nothing about this team that should make anyone think to themselves, "they're going to be fine". On the contrary they are quickly falling into the category of 'same old Dolphins'. I don't believe it's just the losses that have soured people, but more the disheartening fashion in which the team played out of the gate coming off of a bye week at home against a divisional opponent. You can point out as many positives from the Bills game as you want, but the bottom line is that they came out flat, looked unprepared, played terribly and lost to a 3rd string QB. Playoff teams don't lose those games. In order to realistically believe that this team can make the playoffs you have to believe that the team you have seen over the last month is going to change drastically while playing 2 playoff teams in a 5 day period. Can it happen? Sure it can. Will it? We all hope so. Have we seen much that should lead anyone to believe that this just a small hiccup and everything will be fine? Nope, not yet.

You know how the saying goes...

On any given Sunday...

The Bills almost beat the Pats when they played.

The Dolphins just lost to the weakest team in their conference AT HOME, that was probably the easiest game on their schedule and they blew it.

No one talks about the pic 6 or the blown special teams play. The tackle got beat for sack, big deal those things happen in games. The bigger problems are that they
GAVE the team a touchdown to start the game and the special teams play was equally bad.

What is the point of them getting to the playoffs?

They will lose the first wildcard game against ANY team that they face regardless

Zounds, but isn't that what we said after our last game last year? "We missed a few plays, missed some FG's or we'd be in the playoffs." The coaches missed it. They should have called for all run and punt on our last Buff series. Instead, they gave Mario the ability to get his hands on Tannehill. These are the things the staff should have learned from last year..IMO.

As a fan, it's like the movie, Ground Hog Day. I find myself living the same season over and over again.
And you (and we) will, until the quarterback play improves sufficiently. :)

Mario Williams doesn't play for NE. And it doesn't appear Clabo is playing for Miami either. I like our chances against NE.
