Why are the Miami Dolphins letting Jeff Fisher hold them hostage?

Totally disagree with the article. Totally.

Why the rush to get a coach? No college recruiting going on. What is important is getting the RIGHT GUY. Take some time and figure it out and select the guy that shares the vision of the owner and GM.

Who are we losing in terms of coaching candidates? Mike Mularkey? Relax.

Sorry to the media that it is not happening fast enough for their stories.
While I agree with taking our time to get the right coach, I don't agree with putting interviews on hold while Fisher takes his time to decide if he wants to coach Miami. At least St. Louis is doing the smart thing, or is at least acting like they are doing the right thing, and still interviewing possible coaches for a back up plan.

We've already interviewed 5 coaches. They have Plan A and B already laid out.

Stlouis is just now interviewing potential coaches.

What a stupid article. When i read it last night, my first thought was that Barardino is writing this purely for the entertainment and folly, of rabid fans willing to garble up anything Fisher to Miami relation.

So he chose to write sports satire. And failed.

THe process is what it is. Its smart from a business point to have all you options laid out in front of you. I dont believe they expected Fisher to take this long in decideing, but they have no choice but to wait and see now, as he is clearly the guy they want.

Is he the right guy? Debateable. But at least when Ross and co decided this was the guy they wanted, they did everything in their power to get him.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's still waiting to see what happens with Caldwell.

I dont think thats the case. I think he or the Colts would have reached out by now. If the Colts really wanted Fisher then they would have made a play by now and Fisher would have rejected both St Louis and Miami.

Also by most accounts I've read Fisher seems to be a pretty honourable guy. I dont think stringing along teams and then turning them down would be his style.

The Rams just stepped up their interviews when the news broke Fisher was leaning towards the Dolphins while our interviews have continued from the day after Fisher interviewed.

Agreed. Ross is a business man and apparently a da** good one. I don't see him putting all his eggs in one basket.

It's not about how long he takes. It is all these false media reports that come out that drive me crazy. It's a big decision for Fisher so he can take more than a few days. But maybe the TMZ media morons should wait until he decides and then report it. Does anyone really care who tweets it first? If you do, you need to get out more.

I feel Miami needs to draw a hardline with Fisher. If he isn't on board the M-train by today mid-afternoon, move on.

I think Ross will let Fisher think or deal until Friday. I think it's interesting that St. Louis is still interviewing coaches, and we've got none announced. That's a good sign.

Nothing will be announced until a deal is in place in principle. It's not just about his decision. It's about making an annoucement when there is a contract agreed to.

It is laughable that some just think of Fisher as an average .500 coach. Jeff Fisher is recognized as one of the best of coaches in the game. He is respected and would give this team direction going forward. Fisher will produce physically and mentally tough teams. He would be able to attract quality FA's and assistant coaches.

Is he the only coach that can do those things? Of course not. I think Mike Zimmer can something similar. I like the interviews so far by the organization.

At the start of this process, I wanted Fisher, Billick, Sherman, Philbin, Zimmer and Bowles to be interviewed. I am not disappointed at this point...

Relax...if Fisher spurns the Fins, we will move on to other quality people.

I've said from the get-go, and its been my informed experience that if a candidate is unable, after some reasonable analysis and a confirming gut check, to make a clear cut decision on alternative opportunities, he really isn't sold on either. Rather than settling on one and doing both prospective employers and himself a disservice, he should just withdraw from both out of courtesy to those teams who need to move on with coaches who are enthusiastic about either job. A week to decide is ample time before the offer automatically is rescinded.

Let the man have some time.

Important decision (his last professional job)...

What's the rush anyway?
